RUN, don’t walk AWAY! Dr Heitkamp performed a cervical fusion at C5, C7 on me. Immediately after surgery and for all the days following for one full year, I was in extreme pain and unable to lift my head. I told Dr Heitkamp of my issues 3 weeks post-op. He ordered an MRI and reported all was well with the surgery site and said he would no longer see me. This was an 8 week recovery, yet just 3 weeks after surgery he cancelled my upcoming appointments and referred me to a pain management doctor that prescribed Ambian stating my problem was “poor sleep hygiene”! I was unable to sleep due to the pain. I carried on in this manner for a year Until finally seeking a second opinion. The next doctor took an XRAY and as soon as I looked at it I could see the screws in the soft tissue not the bone. The second Doctor requested that I pick up the MRI report from Heitkamps MRI. He had falsified the report he gave me and it didn’t match the one I picked up from the lab. RUN!!

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Heitkamp & his office staff. I was referred to him by my regular family doctor when I began having severe pain in my lower back. I didn't have to wait long at all to get an appointment OR while sitting in his waiting room for my visit. He sent me for a specific test, then had my husband & I come meet with him again. He used a model to show me exactly what procedure he would be doing, and he talked with us until all of our questions were answered. I asked him, "Will this just be a temporary thing to help my pain?" He said, "No, I'm going to fix you." And he did. I went from hardly able to walk without extreme pain, to feeling 10 years younger! He is the nicest, most soft-spoken man, and he's definitely my hero. I have recommended him to SO many people. I'm sure they've loved him, too!

This man literally saved my life. I was told by another surgeon i would be lucky to not be on a cane by 55 due to degenerative desease. I was told that in 2005. In 2007 this doctor did his magic and now at 53 i am playing softball, golf and any other thing i want. He is a brilliant brilliant man and surgeon. He was Gods gift to me and I truly mean that

Dr. Heitkamp is very professional & his staff extremely knowledgable. I have Degenerative Disc Disease & need multiple surgeries. Not worried about the next surgery as I had no issues with the 1st.

Following "routine" (according to Heitkamp) brain surgery on my father, Heitkamp did ZERO, that's 0, FOLLOWUP. Two-plus weeks after surgery and Dad is still basically a 1 on the mental scale - he was a 7 prior to surgery. When calling Heitkamp with concerns he will provide a curt perhaps 1 minute phone call with no help. Seems to care less about the patient's plight; just takes the $$$ and abandons us.

Best Neurosurgeon out there !!! Staff is very friendly and courteous!!! Dr. Heitkamp has always given great advice and information regarding all concerns! I would recommend him to anyone!!!

I suffered from lower chronic back pain for years. Dr. Heitkamp perfomed surgery and I was relieved of all the pain. This is the best my back has felt in 20 years. I have no complaints.
