18 Years Ago, He SAVED MY LIFE! As a military surgeon, Dr. Lord told me the hard truth, with kindness and compassion. At my 6 month check up, he told me I could NOT keep sneaking in to those Cocoa Krispies. Eighteen years later, I'm still doing well. I owe him so much gratitude and will get to FL to say "Thank YOU" in person one day soon! It's worth the trip! I'm so glad our paths crossed at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center! Andrea A'Jay Scipio

I have not had surgery here...but my rating is from my discussion with his staff. I gave 2 stars because his staff member was kind and willing to answer my questions. Otherwise, I would have given one star. How can Dr. Lord justify charging $26,000 self pay for a gastric sleeve when the national average is $10,000-$12,000 less than that including other local doctors (and yes, the costs includes hospital fees, follow up and anesthesia). I was told it was because of his "reputation" for fixing other doctors problems, but I don't have problems from another doctor...so the exorbitant rate is unjustifiable. I guess he just has no interest in working with self-pay patients, which is odd considering insurance would probably pay him less than 1/3rd of his ridiculous fees. I will have no problem finding a board certified doctor who doesn't try to rob his self-pay patients.

I had an extremely rare Morgagni hernia repair with Dr. Lord. I found him to be an excellent surgeon. He took time to explain not only the type of hernia I had but how he intended to repair it. I found him very kind. He never seemed rushed. The surgery went well. Recovery went well. No complications or infection. His P.A. Mark was also excellent. The staff is friendly and competent. As a nurse, I would highly recommend Dr. Lord. Thanks to all of you for your kind and excelllent treatment.

Excellent care

Most horrible experience ever today after a procedure with Dr Lord. If I could give zero stars I would. He didn't even speak to me before I was sedated and didn't speak to me or my husband after the procedure. Then, his office called to make the follow up appointment. I expressed my concerns Andy the lady from the office said, "you were sedated, but yeah, he was in the procedure room."

ARROGANT AND CONDESCENDING TO FAMILY MEMBERS FLAUNTS HIS "EXPERIENCE" - WOOHOO I THINK HE GOT MORE STARS ONLY WHEN HE MANAGED TO IMPRESS PEOPLE ONE STAR TELLS IT MORE LIKE IT A DOCTOR SHOULD NOT DO OR MAKE ANY OF THE PEOPLE IN THE POOR REVIEWS FEEL THE WAY THEY DID/DO.

HE IS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND GETS RIGHT TO THE POINT. HE CARES ABOUT YOUR HEALTH! I WOULD RECOMMED HIM TO ANYONE WHO WANTS A NEW START IN LIFE.

Outstanding surgeon

I had gastric bypass surgery with Dr. Lord and am extremely pleased with the experience. He has an excellent program and is an exceptional surgeon. I HIGHLY recommend him!
