Dr. Jeffrey Bruce Monroe, MD

This physician is hard to work with. He would not let me explain my symptoms. He kept cutting me off and not letting me express my concerns. Being a healthcare provider myself we are taught to observe subjective date from the patient and well as gather objective date. He goes specifically off of objective data. He lacks common sense. At first he tried to defer my problem to me grinding my teeth top which I said I don’t and have never been told by my dentist that I do so because I have asked. Then he said my ear pain was due to me opening my jaw and having a defective hinge joint. I have known for years that my jaw was defective. The reason my jaw hurts when he touched it is due to me constantly opening it to pop my ear. The ear is the primary source of the pain and my jaw is being agitated from me constantly popping my ear. He left off with.. “well the problem could very well be your ear still but go see a dentist first and then come back if they say its not your jaw.” UHM well the… dentist is going to say it’s not that and I am not going come back to you just so you can tell me once again that you don’t know what it is and charge me again. He needs to hang up his white coat and go into retirement.

Very bad bed manner, diagnosis made based on a possibly wrong assumption. No tests other than the visual inspection of my ear and the hearing test were done to confirm the diagnosis. After treatment with steroids and a procedure that supposedly shouldn't cause any side effects other than hopefully improving the hearing I ended up with excruciating pressure pain in my head and ear that lasted for about 6 hrs. The procedure was going to be repeated the next day, but I didn't agree to it. I was not ready to experience the same pain again. I am setting up an appointment with another doctor.

Dr Monroe is very confident and was quick to diagnose on a visual examination without tests or follow-up. It was somewhat of a backwards exchange as I had to work really hard to get him to open up a dialogue about my concerns.

Dr. Monroe has always provided professional, compassionate, and attentive care. His knowledge and expertise in the area of my specific health problem gave me confidence in his course of treatment and its outcome.

Have been seeing Dr, Monroe for over 30 years. He has helped me with my problem ears.

I have never met a doctor as impersonal as "Dr" Monroe. He wouldn't answer my questions when I had the chance to ask any at all. Quick 'diagnosis' that wasn't explained to me at all. I left there feeling disgusted and I am getting a second opinion.

Dr. Monroe has a terrible, impersonal bedside manner. He spent less than 10 minutes examining me. His exam was like something that you'd see on Marcus Welby 30 years ago; looked in my ears, nose, throat. He gave me no real information and basically told me that I should just ignore the ringing in my ears (sudden onset after a head cold) as it would likely go away. I went to my primary care physician a few days later, and after a throrough exam including bloodwork, was diagnosed with a sinus infection along with a viral infection. I will never go to Dr. Monroe again, nor would I recommend him to anyone I know.
