"Saw one time for preop testing. GFR (renal function lab) 70 (2025) and 80 (2024) and now sudden decrease at 53. Got labeled by this NP with chronic kidney disease, though the provider never BOTHERED to contact me when I left a voicemail requesting return call to discuss results received via patient portal. Day before labs drawn: highest temp day of the summer (greater than 100 degrees), working out in the sun, lightheaded and dizzy--had to stop working and get water to hydrate. Yo Jeff: DEHYDRATION can cause a drop in GFR when it has been normal for 18 years. Labs are redone and assessed before pushing someone to surgery which could result in renal failure given the meds used by anesthesia. Other lab results also point to dehydration; however, this provider doesn't seem to "get it". FYI Jeff: a chronic issue is diagnosed after more than ONE DATA POINT AND LAB and over a three-month timeframe. Then this NP notes allergies and lists meds to be given preop, during and after surgery,… including the one med noted as an allergy. Careless, disgusting and clearly needs to ask for a refund from his online education. One time in 2008 GFR was decreased due to a MEDICATION ERROR from this less-than-stellar "healthcare" system. Renal function recovered and has been normal ever since which this provider was aware. Want to remain in a positive health state?--avoid the system and providers like this one who can't take the time to pick up the phone to discuss a result, lack EFFECTIVE listening, and treats patients as revenue streams and an inconvenience to his day!"
