Dr. Van Blarcom earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 1992 and his M.D. from the University of Kansas in 1996. He completed his pediatric residency at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1999.
He started his professional career as a general pediatrician in Elko, Nevada, where he worked for five years in a solo practice, although with ample support from the community’s other pediatricians. He moved to Ogden, Utah in 2004, where he continued as a general pediatrician and also worked in urgent care and pediatric sedation.
His time at the University of Utah began in 2006 when he was hired as a clinician in the Division of Inpatient Medicine. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2008. He has clinical duties at Primary Children’s Medical Center and at the Riverton Hospital’s Children’s Unit. He serves as the physician representative on the pain focus committee at PCMC and is also the co-owner of the direct admission process.
