Dr. Jeisa Yomary Gomez Torres, MD

Nightmare ER visit with her as my physician. I would never recommend her to anyone. She also brazenly lied on my medical chart to herself look better because I left in the middle of our initial meeting realizing I was better off waiting for my PCP who knew my medical background and actually cares for her patients. They said it wasn’t ok for me to leave because it was “against medical advice” and even went to the lengths of telling me at 41 years old and a single mom of three young children I would probably die if I left the hospital that night (I was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism) and she made me sound like I was crazy in my chart she wrote. The next day I was seen by both my PCP and then the anticoagulation specialists who continued the started treatment of blood thinners which they kept me on for one year and here I am now four years later - alive, off of the prescribed blood thinners after one year and completely cleared of any pulmonary embolisms in my lungs because of my… decision to leave the hospital and Ms. Torres’ care that night. I looked into her academic and medical care background and found that she has had almost no experience with treating pulmonary embolisms. I wish she hadn’t been so arrogant and rude to me as I’m always respectful of others and especially my doctors. When she heard I wanted another opinion via my own doctors she was not happy and proceeded to berate me in my medical chart because of it calling me names which were inappropriate and libel. Being the kind person I am I forgive that indiscretion but I won’t hesitate to warn others of her actions and unprofessional behavior in my dealings with her as my ER doctor for the short period of time I stayed and put with her attitude. Perhaps she was having a rough night as I’m sure it’s a difficult career but bedside manner matters and respect for patients should be top priority along with treating them for what they’re being seen for. She was a total overwhelmed mess in that ER. Although it was start of 2001 and still many Covid patients I’m sure at the time. All in all she just doesn’t have what it takes to be a doctor for an emergency room.
