Dr Jennifer A. Akazawa

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Awazaka. During my appointment, I did not feel heard or supported. I came in expecting to be able to explain my concerns and have a thoughtful conversation with my doctor, but instead I felt rushed, dismissed, and repeatedly shut down when I tried to speak. What bothered me most was the lack of empathy and compassion in the interaction. I understand that doctors are busy and appointments have time limitations, but listening to a patient, especially when they are trying to explain why they are seeking medical care, is incredibly important. I left the appointment feeling worse rather than reassured or cared for. A good doctor-patient relationship requires trust, communication, and the ability to feel comfortable discussing your concerns. Unfortunately, I did not experience that with Dr. Awazaka, and I have requested to change to another primary care physician. This experience affected me more deeply than a single disappointing… appointment. It significantly damaged my trust in the healthcare system and made me hesitant to seek medical care again. Patients should be able to come to their doctor feeling vulnerable and know they will be listened to with patience, compassion, and respect.
