I was diagnosed without being told, and given incorrect information about treatment options. Dr Alderman said I had one option- taking birth control- and that there would be virtually no side effects (NOT true). When I was feeling worse than ever, staff were quick to minimize my concerns. and I was basically treated like a drug addict for expressing being in pain. Then, I was told by another doctor there that I should be prepared to accept that this may all be because of being an assault survivor. While that does happen, I had a lot more going on and it seemed like they just wanted to say it was "all in my head." I am so happy I found another gyno.

I've been going to Gainesville gynecology group on and off for the last 5 years and all the women in my family go here. Up until recently I saw dr Alderman only. She was ok, though I wasn't thrilled on her advising me to quit breastfeeding. Oh and the fact that she diagnosed an ongoing problem I've been having as a yeast infection and then a few months later said "oh no, this isn't a yeast infection." but never could tell me exactly what this was. Recently began seeing Wendy Wiggs through the same office. Not sure why I was switched. I've been having the same problem for over two years now and Wendy's advice was to do exactly what I'd been doing and use the same cream I'd been using for over a year and come back in two weeks. Come back and suprise! that didn't work! who would have guessed? was told to try a different ointment if I had more irritation. Though wiggs forgot to put it in the chart. Was sent home with an Rx for a pill as well which I couldnt take because I'm… breastfeeding. Good thing I double checked before taking that despite the fact that I flat out told her I'm breastfeeding and it was in my chart. Called the office the next day to get them to call in the Rx and they had no clue what ointment to call in and Wiggs apparently works somewhere else so she wasn't there to tell them. They ask her the next day and call it in for me, but never call me to alert me that they're calling in the ointment so I don't get it for a few days. I use the new ointment all weekend and it makes my irritation worse. I call first thing monday morning and tell them it's making it worse and I get "well wendy isn't working today so I'll call and leave her a message asking what to do. We'll call you back this afternoon or tomorrow." Never heard back. I thought maybe they forgot to ask so I called and left a message for the nurse at around noon on tuesday (over 24 hours later) and despite the fact that the voicemail says that all calls made prior to 3 pm will be returned by 4, I still never heard back. If they eventually decide to call back, I'll let them know that I'm looking for a doctor with some advice better than "try the cream you've been using for over a year and come back in two weeks when that doesn't work" or "this is a yeast infection, no it isn't!" and who's staff actually gets back to me. The nurses all seemed very nice, though the one didn't seem to know what I meant when I said my husband was "intact" when she asked if he was circumcised or not. ("intact" is the correct vernacular as "uncircumcised" sounds it makes it sound unnatural. Just as you wouldn't call a person with all their arms and legs an un-amputee, vs an amputee.) also not thrilled with 10 min wait in waiting room and then 20 min wait in the room. The staff were very polite and held my 14 month old while i was being examined though.

Dr. Alderman is very caring doctor. She takes her time and truly appears to care about you. I am so happy that I came across this doctor going thru hospital sites. I was very lucky.

I LOVE EVERYONE AT THIS OFFICE! A great staff for sure! My daughter was born at 32 weeks because of PreEcamplsia, I was diagnoised at 31 weeks thanks to Dr. Alderman who knew exactly what to look for even though I had no idea what she was talking about. A week stay in the hosptial and a little education on the matter brought me up to speed, saved my life and my daughters. An emergency C-section was need and Dr. Alderman was there in a heartbeat to be sure I was ok and everything went as it should... I couldnt be more thankful to Dr. Alderman

Dr Alderman delivered both of my children. She was Great. I think that she is a wonderful woman. She really makes you feel that you matter and cares about the well being of of you child.
