Dr. Jennifer Roberts Evangelist, MD

I was referred to Dr. Evangelist by a family member. Our 1st visit was wonderful, I like the fact that the sick children have a seperate waiting room from the well kids. In addition, each new patient receives a toy and a book. There's a seperate area for vitals then patients are placed in a room. The wait time to see the physician is very loooong. I always pay my copays and BCBS is great about paying its portion. However, after about a 1 1/2 yr, Rivertown Pediactrics start notifying me by mail and phone that BCBS was denying some of the claims. After doing some research, I found out that I was being over charged for various things during mu chidrens visits to Rivertown Pediatrics that were notg necessary per BCBS. Therefore, they refused to pay and denied some of the items on the claim. This resulted in me having an unpaid medical bill of around 5,000 totaled for 3 children. Needless to say, I chose to change providers and now I ask detailed questions about what I'm being charged for… to avoid this a repeat of medical billing issues. It's sad when providers overcharge the insurance company and the policyholder is left with the bill. :o(

My daughter has gone to Rivertown since she was 6 mths old and I always had to wait awhile, but since having my son (11 weeks) and Dr. Evangelist being his doctor, she's never even seen him. Never can get an appointment with her. If you are not full time doctor, don't expect to get full time patients. After this last visit, I have decided to switch doctors. The office staff are not courteous and don't care about your time and the wait is HORRENDOUS. Waited and hour and a half till my son was finally seen. If you can't service the patients you already have, quit excepting new ones. Horrible experience with that place.
