Dr. Jennifer Baum Gruen, MD

This office, consisting of mostly female pediatricians, has a web-site that informs male teenagers that "a genital exam will be performed at every well-visit." It does make one wonder what the reaction would be IF a practice of mainly MALE pediatricians had a web-site informing teenage girls that genital exams would be performed at each well-visit. Likewise, the policy that ALL of a family's children must be part of the practice is insane. Be aware of these policies; read the practice's own web-site. Likewise, keep in mind that every client, upon reaching a certain age, must consent to any examination. Therefore, a teenage boy is free to absolutely refuse a genital examination with no repercussions whatsoever. In fact, he must give his consent before any physician can touch or examine a private area. Let's keep patients' rights in mind, front and center, at all times.

The office makes you bring all your children and won't treat just one sibling. That's crazy number one. The doctors, mostly women, have created a web-site to inform male teenagers that a genital exam will be performed at every well-visit. That's crazy (and sick) number two. The web-site also makes families apply to the practice. That's crazy number three (and possibly border-line illegal because it is refusing care). Three strikes, you're out, and I would never bring my son anywhere near any of these women...ever.

I love Dr. Gruen and the Village Pediatric practice. Dr. Gruen is fantastic with my child, spends a lot of time with us, we never feel rushed. Easy to reach when needed (email, phone or after hours). Excellent bedside manner.
