Dr. Jennifer Vanessa Lusa

Very unprofessional and ignorant! Told me several times “You need to just grow up and stop creating your own problems, then whining about them afterwards!” And also told me: “Well, exactly do you want me to do about it?! This is your fault and your self-created problem, so how can I possibly fix it for you?” Is that how a supposedly trained and skilled psychologist is supposed to make you feel better, belittling you like that?! Plus, same psychologist (Jennifer Vanessa Lusa) cancelled on me several times. Come to find out, she booked other patients filled into my time slots instead, during what would have been my sessions. But then she lied to me afterwards. (Claimed she was gonna be on vacation out of state, when plain as day I seen her twice in Glastonbury – same time period she was suppose to “be on vacation”) Just be straightforward and honest, say you don’t wanna see a patient anymore or you think its not a good fit. (Instead of making up lies to them!) I never felt like she was… empathetic nor validating. Seemed like she was always looking down her nose at me, scoffing – even laughing at me several times when I talked about my trauma past. Final straw for me was some borderline ignorant comments she made about my fiancé which I felt were prejudicial. I certainly do not personally feel that Jennifer Vanessa Lusa is nearly as ‘culturally diverse’ as she claims to be! And nor do I feel like she is sensitive to patient needs; very insensitive and judgmental instead. Jennifer Lusa did not make me feel very good for the few sessions I had with her. So in conclusion, for all those reasons, I will not be recommending her to other patients. Especially, not when she openly breached confidentiality by sharing my issues with at least one of her other patients, which I did not learn about until several days after my last session with her. As it turns out, when both of us (me and another one of her former patients) got to 'comparing notes', that was when I had learned that Jennifer Lusa apparently divulged confidential information about me to them. It would take too much time and effort for me to report this to the NASW (National Association of Social Work) ethics and standards, and honestly, I just want to be totally done with Jennifer Lusa once and for all. So instead, my review here will hopefully serve as a cautionary tale to other prospective patients: stay far, far away from Jennifer Lusa and her ignorance and unprofessionalism! You will definitely be glad that you did!!

This therapist is way too critical and judgmental. And also, this therapist does not validate client feelings appropriately. The approach used by this therapist is not relatable either, it certainly does not seem to align with unique client needs. Or at least, that was definitely my experience with Jennifer Lusa. She certainly did not make me feel very good about myself during my few sessions with her, in fact, I felt much worse afterwards. Everything that Jennifer Lusa said was way too negative, just dripping with sarcasm and condescension. To be totally honest, everything about Jennifer’s approach and therapeutic (if you would even technically call it that) style just caused me to feel so much worse about myself than I had prior to coming to her for what I mistakenly thought might be help. Maybe that was not Jennifer’s full intent, but I still didn't appreciate how extremely insensitive, rude, patronizing and disrespectful that she was! When clients are feeling poorly about… themselves, it should always be the job of a truly qualified therapist to then build them up and validate what they are going through: make the client feel better about themselves. That definitely never once happened with this therapist during my sessions with her, and I am very glad that I’ve since found another therapeutic professional who I personally feel is a much better, more respectful, and more validating fit for my needs. Those were my experiences with this behavioral health therapist, but perhaps others’ views may differ.
