Dr. Jennifer Lynn Melville, MD

I chose Dr. Melville because she specializes in endometriosis surgery. I went in because of suspected endometriosis and over three years the only thing she offered was an IUD replacement and am ultrasound. Ultrasounds don't diagnose endometriosis. It was noted that one of my ovaries was tender during the ultrasound, something she never addressed. She refused to take my symptoms seriously and ignored my pain. I went to another doctor who immediately took me seriously. I had stage 4 endometriosis infilrating my everything. The reason my ovary has been painful is because it had been encased in endometriosis and had started to twist. Day one after surgery I was in less pain than I had been in since I was 14. Dr. Melville is directly responsible for me having at least 3 additional years of excruciating pain.

I've been very hesitant to write this review. I had a complicated delivery and Dr. Melville definitely did all she could do to make sure my baby boy was born healthy, which he was. So from that standpoint, she is awesome. As for being my OBGYN, I had several unsatisfactory visits with her leading up to the delivery, as well as my post delivery visit. I always felt rushed, and never had an opportunity to ask my questions. I remember for one of the visits I literally didn't realize the appointment was over and she walked out without me having a chance to ask any questions. In the US we have pretty bad post-natal care. Most developed countries have several postpartum visits, and we only have one 6 weeks after delivery. So I was very eager for my appointment, as I had many postpartum issues related to my complicated delivery. As usual, she rushed in and made it clear that she didn't have much time. As she was leaving, I reminded her that I had a VERY low hemocrat (sp?) level during my… delivery and she thanked me for reminding her that I needed to get it checked. I asked her one other question, to which she gave a quick response and then left... she spent 7 minutes total with me. She also forgot to write out the order for the bloodwork, which I only realized when I got home. I was too drained as a new mom to bother to follow up, and she never called to follow- up on her own. There are many other issues that I won't bother going into, but in summary, I felt like I had very poor care, but... she did help me deliver a healthy baby, and for that I'm very thankful.

Dr. Melville saw me through my second pregnancy, and a surgery in the following year. She is personable, knowledgeable, and extremely skilled. I referred family to her and they had a positive experience, and care as well.

I don't know she left me feeling odd and not in a good way. She might be a great doctor I really don't know its my second visit, but, something is lacking. Her questions were about what do I do where do i live etc etc.. Combine that with the fact that she was boasting about her current practice how private it is.. My first impression and I might be wrong but I usually trust my instincts but my first impression is that she is materialistic.. She doesn't really care about the patient as much as how much that patient is going to bring in.. My point is, I know a salesperson when I see one. I don't think I will be back, regardless of her rating as a doctor. All in all I would give her 3 over 5

I can think of no finer medical provider than Dr Melville. She is honest, compassionate and always willing to take whatever extra time that is necessary to make you feel heard and valued. I have seen her over many years and (having seen various providers before and since) there is no doubt that she truly is an outstanding doctor with a wealth of knowledge. Her demeanor, manner and character is unparalleled in the medical field.

I have had two complex, life altering operations at the hands of Dr. Melville and I am beyond happy with the results. I first met Dr. Melville when I ended up in the ER due to a severe condition which necessitated surgery. During my first surgery, my condition was found to be much more severe than anticipated. I was given a treatment regiment and a second surgery was scheduled for six months from the first. I am now a few days post op from my second highly complex surgery (seriously, I had several fibroids, stage four endometriosis and ovarian cysts- I was truly a mess) and I am immensely impressed with Dr. Melville's work. I am even more impressed with her down to earth nature. She is, and I don't use this word lightly, a humanitarian. Dr. Melville has given me my life back. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Melville and I feel that any woman would be lucky to have her as a doctor or surgeon. I have been given a new lease on life and it is because of the truly… remarkable, sensitive, and kind care provided by Dr. Jennifer Melville. Thank you Dr. Melville.

Really didn't take any time to understand what we wanted for our situation. I was a very easy going patient but she was always 20-30 min late to our appointments and I think over my entire pregnancy through all meetings we maybe spent 2 hours together most of which she treated me like I was just another case: blood pressure, weight gain, ok your good...next-
