Dr. Jennifer Ann Miller, MD

I came in after an ovarian cyst rupture with ongoing cramping and painful, heavy periods. I made it clear I did not want to be put on birth control and was looking for support beyond that. From the moment she started speaking to me, her energy was cold and dismissive. I shared that I’d had a cyst rupture and was met with immediate denial. She told me cysts don’t rupture during your period, which is factually incorrect (a quick search proves otherwise). She insisted I didn’t have a cyst and defaulted to suggesting birth control as the only solution. When I explained that my periods are extremely painful and abnormally heavy, she brushed that off too, no attempt to dig deeper or investigate root causes. I had a cyst rupture several years ago and explained that to her which she denied being a cyst as well. During the exam, I tried to engage in conversation and brought up something I’d learned: that the cervix changes position throughout your cycle. Instead of having a dialogue, she… condescendingly told me that it “doesn’t”. I insisted that I learned this and again she repeated herself and that I should “be careful about what I read.” (Again, a quick search or a basic reproductive health confirms this is false.) I was shocked that a gynecologist would shut down a patient like that, and was completely wrong with her correction! When I mentioned sharp pain on my left side during the exam, she brushed it off, possibly blaming digestion, and didn’t seem to take it seriously at all. She reluctantly offered an ultrasound “if I wanted one”, but showed no urgency or initiative to actually figure out what’s going on, and said “based off of what you told me today, I don’t think you need one “. Throughout the appointment, she repeatedly tried to push birth control on me, even after I made it clear I wasn’t going to take it. She never asked why, never asked about my past experiences with it, just kept pushing her own agenda. This was one of the most invalidating, dismissive medical experiences I’ve ever had, and from a female gynecologist, this was especially traumatizing. This woman should be stripped of her license immediately.

This doctor is literally the worst individual I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I’d just moved to town in 2020, and needed a new OB. My previous doctor had finally referred me to a specialist to get my chronic pelvic pain figured out, but that specialist closed down during COVID and they didn’t provide clear notes of next steps. I expressed this to Doctor Miller and requested a referral to a different specialist who could help. Her words were, and I quote, “You have anxiety. It’s just stress. You need to calm down.” This is being said by a female doctor, TO ANOTHER FEMALE. After immediately switching to Cleveland Clinic after this horrendous experience, I was finally diagnosed with Endometriosis. This was also after 15 years struggling in the UH system to get this issue figured out. Due to Doctor Miller’s obvious malpractice, I spent additional years suffocated by pain and infertility. A recent surgery performed by a leading CC surgeon has uncovered that my endometriosis is at… stage four. How Doctor Miller discounted and dismissed my clear symptoms is abhorrent. She deserves to have her licensure stripped and legal action taken, which I will be pursuing to the fullest extent of the law. Do NOT go to this doctor under any circumstances. She is an awful, tactless individual and is a perfect example of female-internalized misogyny.
