Dr. Semel is a true team player, valuing my opinions and calling my child's therapists for input. She is playful and non threatening during evaluations and observations. Offers options of care and allows us to process the information before choosing the best course of treatment. I never feel rushed and she always takes the time to hear my concerns and answer our many questions! Would highly recommend her!

Dr. Semel was one of the reasons I made the move from North Carolina to New York. I saw her once during a visit during which my young son Hunter was being diagnosed with the debilitating and fatal Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. At that one point in 2004, we had been through many doctors and she was the only doctor that showed a genuine interest in Hunter's overall wellbeing. In conducting the rigorous testing needed to chart the progression of DMD, Dr. Semel laid on the hospital floor beside Hunter and pretended to race with him down the hall. It was the first time he had ever smiled throughout the entire course of the testing and we were so happy we cried. I have been bringing my son to her religiously for five years now and she has never let us down. Everytime we have an appointment we are continuously amazed by her expansive medical knowledge and enamoured by her incredible bedside manner. Simply put, Dr. Semel is the gold standard by which every doctor should mold themselves after.… We consider her family and trust her with our lives. How many doctors can you honestly say that about?
