Dr. Jerome Donald Chao, MD

Dr. Chao surgically removed a raised, quite noticeable defect from the area between my upper lip and nose eleven days ago, and moments ago, when the post-op steri-strips fell off, I got my first look at the result. Despite 12 years decades ago as a plastics nurse at AMCH, this my first cosmetic procedure, he'd warned that I'd have a scar, and so I'd had no idea what to expect. All I can say today is WOW - what exquisite work this skilled plastics surgeon did on my face. The impossibly tiny, slender incision he made is already hard to find, and it will quickly fade into insignificance. I feel thrilled, grateful he's practicing in this area, and would highly recommend him to anyone.

We were referred to Dr. Chao when my 3 year old daughter fell and sliced her ear open right down to the cartilage. Due to the COVID-19 crisis we were hesitant to go to an ER - well thank God for Dr. Chao and his staff. Dr. Chao met my daughter and I at 8:00am on a Sunday morning in an otherwise empty office. Emergency sutures for 3 year old girls is not his typical day in the office, but we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Dr. Chao explained the process kindly and honestly and kept my 3 year old feeling reassured and smiling the entire time. A week later we returned for a follow-up and to have the stitches removed. This time we had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Chao’s staff, all of whom were delightful and professional. We felt very comfortable with the COVID-19 precautions the office had in place, and again Dr. Chao had my daughter smiling and laughing through the procedure. Finally, we had our last follow up as a telemedicine appointment, as an in person… visit wasn’t needed and precautions still make sense right now. Again, even over video chat Dr. Chao shined. Oh - and my daughter’s ear has healed beautifully.

I highly recommend Dr. Jerome D. Chao and his wonderful Team. He is such an amazing Surgeon....a true healer who sincerely cares about his patients. I am honored that he accepted me as his patient and feel enriched by his gentle spirit and genuine genius. He helped me go on after a breast cancer diagnosis and mastectomy by performing an amazing reconstruction with an implant. Dr.Chao and his Team support their patients as though they were family and that is a real blessing. Thank you Dr. Chao, Becky, Paula, Erin....you’re the best !!! I cannot say enough good things about this practice!! Not only is the Physician Assistant Beckie a true artist and perfectionist when it comes to fillers and treatments she is an absolutely amazing person! After being Beckies patient for 6 years I decided to get liposuction on my stomach and back as well the implants that I've always wanted! Dr. Chao did absolutely amazing work with my liposuction and implants and I really couldn't be happier with the results 2 years later! Thank you for helping me feel beautiful!!!!

You will only see the doctor if you are having surgery. Staff performs injectables and fillers. They are not RNs and only have the most basic skills. Their lack of skills required that I visited another doctor for a correction. This is the first time that I have ever NOT BEEN TREATED BY the doctor. Yes some simple things like microdermabrasion or laser can be done by a tech but NOT any type of injectable. In more than 8 visits I never once saw the doctor. Needless to say I have found a new cosmetic surgeon for my treatments.

I was referred to Dr. Chao after 7 years of suffering with lymphedema in my lower right extremity. I thought I would have to live with this huge leg the rest of my live. I went for a consultation at Dr. Chao's office and he and his assistants stated to me what they would "try" with my leg. I had Dr. Chao and his assistance go ahead with the procedure they suggested and 7 years later I have am able to walk with MY leg and 40 pounds less. I still see Dr. Chao and his assistances for follow up appointments and have a had a few other "minor" procedures done by them. Dr. Chao and his staff have been life savers for me!!! They have a wonderful, fun, loving bedside manner. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Chao and his assistants to anyone! They are the best in the area!!!

STAY AWAY! I thought I had found the best plastic surgeon...I was wrong. I went in wanting an under and over eye lift. They convinced me to have the upper lids and laser my face. Stating that the laser would take care of under the eyes. To make a long story short. Dr. Chao DID NOT do the laser, nor was I told he would not be doing it. (I thought I hired Dr. Chao) On the day of the procedure of Upper lids and laser, I spoke with him about the bags under my eyes not being tightened by the laser procedure and he offered to do the upper and lowers 5 days after the laser. This is all while I'm on the drugs getting ready for the laser. I signed for the procedure and even paid for it. The next day I had no recollection of doing that but I found the receipt and said..."WHAT"? The pre-op care sheet (what to do the week before surgery) was given to me just prior to the laser procedure. NO phone call before the surgery, NO phone call after to see how I was doing. I learned… everything about taking care of my lasered face from the internet..NOT from them. They actually sent me home with nothing to put on my face. I thank my lucky stars that I researched how to take care of my face on the internet. All the healing was thanks to information I found on the internet NOT CHAO. By day 4 I realized that there was no way he was touching my raw swollen face ...and I no longer trusted him, so I cancelled. The under eye bags are back. I went in and sat down with Dr. Chao and his "assistant" to talk about what had happened...Dr Chao had his head buried in the computer as if he didn't care. They apologized for all their errors stating it was his assistant's fault. She was on vacation and I shouldn't have been scheduled. REALLY!? The laser certainly removed all my age spots, however there are many plastic surgeons that could do it, with probably a whole lot less pain (the procedure itself, based on what I read was more painful than necessary.) HOWEVER, I went to see him wanting to have my eyes done, over and under. My face fell the week after my husband died. I have waited 21 years to have my eyes fixed. I gift to myself for my 60th. I saved, I worked my schedule to take enough time off..(self employed) and came out with my dream not even remotely met. THEY DON'T HEAR YOU! Find another plastic surgeon if I were you.
