Dr. Jerrold Allan Schermer, MD

I went in having trouble urinating. Did all the usual tests. He was caring helpful and always there when I had a question. Unfortunately he just left for the VA.

He was very easy to talk to and did not make me feel rushed, he explained everything to me. and was very compassionate .

Dr. Schermer has very limited knowledge about IC/painful bladder syndrome. He indicates he is an out of the box thinker, but in my opinion, he is not! He did not thoroughly assess my symptoms, was dismissive of my description of my chronic and acute bladder pain, and, if he does not find glomerulations or Hunner's Ulcers in your bladder, then, in his opinion, you could not possibly have IC; you're ok, man. No biopsy is necessary, in his opinion, even though he has total access while the patient is under general anesthesia. Perhaps more information could be gleaned through biopsy. It's a fact not all IC patients have ulcers or pinpoint hemorrhaging in the bladder. There are no biomarkers for this disease, and a diagnosis of IC can be made without cystoscopy with hydrodistention! He was utterly dismissive. "Gosh I don't know what's wrong; your bladder looks perfect!" When an otherwise healthy, mentally sound person can't speak without crying because the bladder pain is so bad, it… warrants further investigation or at least a discussion about theories and interventions. He had nothing to say or offer. After a long and hard search, I finally found a competent urologist and am getting relief! He may be great treating other problems like OAB, but IC would not be what I would consider his specialty.

Dr Shermer did a bladder prolapse surgery on me. He did an excellent job. I was scared and had read many problems that could arise. Dr. Shermer was very caring and told me what to expect. He was patient and answered all of my questions. I have excellent results with minimal post-surgical pain. I loved Dr Shermer. He is an excellent surgeon. He is also very kind. I am so glad that I chose him as my surgeon. I couldn't be more pleased with the results.

I was having bladder spasms and came directly from another doctor's office. That doctor's receptionist called his office, and Dr. Schermer squeezed me in right away. Dr. Schermer works in a practice with a lot of other docs, and when I walked in the large waiting room was shockingly full. It ended up only taking about 25 minutes to see him. He was very compassionate. He listened thoughtfully and did an exam and an ultrasound right then. He also sent me for a CAT scan of my bladder that same day. I would highly recommend him, and the office staff and nurses were all very nice and efficient as well.

Dr. Schermer was great! Gentle, caring, a true healer.
