Dr. Jerry Liangchi Chien, MD

This doctor will cut your appointments short and prescribe medication with little information given about your symptoms. He is very rude and rushes through your appointment. He doesn’t seem to care about his patients or his job.

Dr Chien has now landed in Tracy CA with Community Med Clinics in Fall of 2018 and I have had to see him several times over the past year. 1st visit= 30 mins- in waiting room 3 mins -medical assistant takes vitals, updates current meds list (but cant spell names of common medications at all) and asks for "reason for visit" info (3 symptoms ALLOWED MAX) 3 mins later -Chien spends 3 mins MAX with you, does not ask you questions about your symptoms just confirms them (up to 3 MAX), His entire physical examine is limited to a cursory stethoscope on your back, if that, while recorded vitals (and patients) are mostly ignored regardless of being way out of range. After the 3 mins- Dr Chien leaves room abruptly, without saying anything nor indicating that he's done, he already spent an entire 3 min in patient room and isn't coming back with any thoughtful nor useful info ...or coming back at all.... appt is over at 3 mins, learn it. 3 mins after he disappears-… his assistant will come in to clear the room and tell you that you're done. No diagnosis suggested but office will preauthorize 3 referrals. 3 wks later- only 1 of 3 referrals processed. 3 mos later- 911 hospitalized for 2 wks, suffered 2 cardiac arrests with CPR twice due to ongoing arrhythmia requiring implant surgery for a cardiac pacemaker/defibrillator ... (the "4th symptom" I'd been having, but wasn't allowed to discuss at appt 3 mos earlier, were my intermittent heart palpitations....) I have continued to be stuck with Dr Chien as my PCP as CMC is the only provider in-town Tracy contracted with HPSJ and cannot drive at 53 yrs old for 9 mos bc of risk of defibrillator shocks. In the last 3 visits I have tried to address chronically elevated monocytes (he wrongly told me that "absolute counts do not matter" and that "only relative WBC % does" even tho both have been chronically elevated with every lab result for over a year) and has refused to refer me to a hematologist 3 times.... As of Sept 2019 I still have not been able to address several existing symptoms nor several evolving symptoms bc now you're only allowed TWO SYMPTOMS MAX per 2 min visit.... assistant simply tells you that you have to make another appt to ask about anything else and makes you another appt for next week, but then....Dr Chien will refuse to see you at all once your there, doesnt even come into patient room at all, has assistant clear you out of room saying that he just saw you last week..... Go anywhere else, every doctor at CMC is there for a reason, most likely professional incompetence and they have little other choice. At my last visit I will have only ONE QUESTION Q: "What do you call a doctor who graduated last in their class? A: "Doctor".

Dr. Chien is hard to get a referral from or a phone call back from. He likes to make you come in when there is no reason and he knows you need the referral. He just likes to get the extra money from his patients. He should be more caring and concerned about his patients and not the all mighty dollar.
