We have been through a birth (of our now 15 yr old), followed by 2 ovarian cyst surgeries and now a hysterectomy with Dr. Matkins and have had wonderful experiences throughout all our 15+ years seeing Dr. Matkins. Most recently, I have had a hysterectomy due to more ovarian cysts. Dr. Matkins provided a thorough explanation of the experience and expectations, he has always been very caring, patient and thoughtful. Grateful to have had a very skilled surgeon take care of me and get me on the path to recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Matkins to others and appreciate all his good care over the many years!

Wonderful professional kind considerate

This joke of a doctor should not be allowed to practice. He is rude and unprofessional amongst many other things. Find another doctor to see because trust me he is as arrogant as they come. He is known to be difficult to work with according to not only patients but the staff there as well. Do Not waste your time dealing with him. There are several other doctors who are kind, professional, and will actually listen to your concerns.

I have been a patient of Dr Matkins' for three years, and he is by far the best doctor I have ever seen. Dr. Matkins is patient, and he always takes time to answer my questions- I have never felt rushed. I appreciate his insight and expertise, and I feel like he has taken the time to get to know me over the past three years. His bedside manner and candor are commendable- he truly is one of the only doctors I've seen that listens, carefully considers my comments, and gives sound medical advice. During my pregnancy Dr. Matkins has been especially attentive, and I hope he is available/ on call when I go into labor- I trust him wholeheartedly, and would not want anyone else walking me through my child's birth!

When I was 8 weeks pregnant, I found out that my baby's heart had stopped beating. My OB/GYN at the time was with a different practice, and she was so indifferent, insensitive, and unprofessional that it was time to switch. Dr. Matkins was the Dr. on-call at the hospital when I delivered my first child, 4-yrs prior, and I thought I would try seeing him, instead. I saw him when I was 13-weeks and still carrying the baby. He was so professional, kind, down-to-earth, and caring about my situation. He addressed all of my questions; consulted my husband and me with superior professionalism and intelligence, as we had hoped; addressed my health needs, not just physically but mentally as well; and showed us the utmost respect for our situation. I could not ask for a better doctor.

I needed a new doctor in Charlotte as I went to the same gyno for many years in Statesville. The actual office was very prompt and ran very well, I didn't have to wait long. I needed to get back on birth control and discussed with him that certain pills make me gain a lot of weight, he told me that it was probably just my eating habits?? Which put me off a lot, I weigh about 120 and have stayed the same weight for the last 10 years and noticed it fluctuating when I started different BC pills. I decided to go with the IUD as my friends and family members really liked it, I was prescribed Misoprosotol to take before insertion. I talked to my sister who was a pharmacist and she thought this was very odd due to the fact that they very rarely prescribe that anymore ( that pill induces labor and gives severe cramping). This really bothered me as I haven't talked to anyone with an IUD that had to take that. I've actually decided to switch doctors. It also bothered me that the nurse… wasn't present during the exam until the very end, she walked in while it was going on...never had that before.
