Dr. Jessica Kathryn Bartfield, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Bartfield's when she was associated with the Loyola Bariatric Clinic in Melrose Park, IL. While I was glad to hear she had accepted a position in North Carolina, I was saddened to see her go. Throughout my weight loss journey I found her to be totally professional, always willing to listen to any concerns I had and totally supportive of me. She was always up-to-date on my chart, current in the field of weight loss, and a true professional. Our loss is North Carolina's gain. Thanks Dr. Bartfield for being a guide on my weight loss journey.

I was referred by a friend, before even stepping foot in the office, I had to attend a seminar, or webinar about surgical and medical weight loss and answer a quiz, I get it. They want you to be sure you understand what options are available, and what to expect with your choice. She's great, she doesn't sugar coat things,and answers all questions thrown her way. At first I wanted to just get started on my medication, but I was educated,and also had to visit a psychologist to make sure there was no eating disorders involved. I'm very happy with my choice, and I'm down about 30 pounds. Just love her.

Horribly rude. Kept me waiting 1 hr + my first visit, I ended up leaving, since I had later commitments. My next appt, I got stuck in a traffic jam, and called to let them know I was going to be late, and she refused to see me. Self-important, arrogant doctors make my skin crawl. Karma.

I was having extraordinary success in my weight loss program with Dr. Bartfield. However, for the second time after the staff gave me an appointment and my driving 1.5 hours one way only to learn I don't have an appointment. The last time I was able to show the staff the e mail giving me the appointment. However, the staff in a desperate attempt to misdirect blame said it was my fault that I didn't call to confirm the appointment. Problem for the staff was that I had another e mail that confirmed the appointment. It is unfortunate for me after having lost over 30 pounds, spent thousands of dollars to have it ruined by passive aggressive staff. It is too bad for Dr. Bartfield, but I am sure it is out of her control.

I have already lost 35 pounds, she is honest and I really connects with her with her program.

MY FIRST VISIT TO HER OFFICE WAS GREAT. I THOUGH I HAD FOUND A GREAT DOCTOR. NOW I REALIZE IT WAS ONLY BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO KEEP A NEW PATIENT SINCE SHE ONLY HAS 3 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE. THIS INFO, I JUST DISCOVERED AND MAKES ME REALIZE THE BASIS FOR HER ATTITUDE. HER CONDESCENDING ATTITUDE, COLDNESS, AND LACK OF GENUINE INTEREST IN MY AILMENTS WERE NOTHING COMPARED TO HER ROUGHNESS DURING EXAMINATIONS THAT CAUSED ME AUDIBLE AND PHYSICAL PAIN, WHICH THE "DOCTOR" FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE, COMMENT ON, WORRY, OR APOLOGIZE FOR. DUE TO HER LACK OF CONCERN OVER MY SYMPTOMS STATING MY AGE DIDN'T CORRELATE WITH MY SYMPTOMS "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE AGAIN? YOU ARE TOO YOUNG."....REALLY? HOW UNPROFESSIONAL AND SIMPLY IGNORANT. ANY AILMENT CAN OCCUR AT ANY AGE. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE PATIENT HAS DESCRIBED OVER AND OVER AGAIN HER LIFELONG HISTORY OF WEAKENED IMMUNE SYSTEM AND MULTITUDE OF MEDICAL ISSUES WHICH DEEPLY CONCERN THE PATIENT PRECISELY FOR THE REASON OF NOT KNOWING WHY SHE IS SICK AT ALL,… OF WHICH THE PATIENT HAS STRUGGLED TO FIGHT AND KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE. THE INTERNIST'S JOB IS TO FIND OUT WHY THE PATIENT IS GETTING SICK AND EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS, NOT TELL THEM, IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE AND PROCEED TO ANTAGONIZE, HUMILIATE, AND BELITTLE THEM WITH PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE COMMENTS. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TRY THIS? OR THAT? YOU JUST DIDN'T THINK TO?" ... NO. THAT'S YOUR JOB. YOU ARE THE DOCTOR. NOT ME. NOT ONLY WAS MY SEVERE PAIN IGNORED, IT TOOK A SPECIALIST TO "LIGHT A FIRE" UNDER HER TO GET HER TO ACT UPON SENDING ME FOR TESTS, ALSO, WAITING FOR 2 HOURS TO BE SEEN WHEN I ARRIVED TEN MINUTES EARLY TO MY APPOINTMENT IS JUST PLAIN UNACCEPTABLE, AND MORE SO WHEN NOT THE STAFF, MED ASSISTANT, OR THE "DOCTOR" HERSELF IS DECENT ENOUGH TO APOLOGIZE OR EVEN EXPLAIN FOR THE WAIT. ONLY TO THEN BE TREATED LIKE AN IGNORANT IDIOT WHO IS BEGGING HER FOR SOME MEDICAL CARE WHICH SHE SEEMS TO FEEL ISN'T WORTHY OF HER TIME OR CONCERN. THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. AS A PROFESSIONAL IN THE MEDICAL FIELD MYSELF, I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO HORRIBLY AND NOT ONLY WILL I GIVE A BAD REVIEW, BUT WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO MAKE SURE THE WORLD KNOWS THAT THIS ROOKIE "DOCTOR" HAS A LOT TO LEARN REGARDING ETHICS, EMPATHY, AND PATIENT CARE, REMEMBERING TO CHECK HER OWN CONDESCENDING ATTITUDES, PREJUDICES, AND PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE ISSUES AT THE DOOR.
