Dr. Jessica Lynn Vantuyle, MD

I am so very happy to see she is taking patients again!!! I am going to get on her schedule asap! She is the best OB/GYN I have ever seen. I wish I had been in VA and seen her when I was pregnant with my twins.

I can't speak about her bedside manner, but I am not impressed at all with this doctor's clinical skills. I know of a person recently diagnosed with renal issues. Turns out she has had very high blood pressures documented at every visit to this doctor for 6 visits in a row over a three year time frame which were never addressed by the doctor. This 25 y/o person now has renal issues most likely due to several years of undiagnosed, untreated blood pressure. Be very careful.

As I read some of the other reviews, I thought this can not be the same woman I've been seeing for the last few years. Dr. Van Tuyle is always kind and nothing but professional during my appointments. I had to have some surgery a few years ago and her follow-up with me was outstanding. I have never felt rushed during our appointments and she always takes time to answer whatever questions I have, and often I have several. The wait times as someone else mentioned are sometimes a pain but if that means she's taking time with her patients and I have to wait a little longer, so be it. Plus the waiting times are not always the result of a doctor but moreso how the practise is scheduling patients, perhaps too closely together. I have been extremely pleased with Dr Van Tuyle and as a result, have recommended her many times and will continue to do so in the future.

Dr Van Tuyle was referred to me by my regular OB doctor that doesn't deliver anymore and when I saw her yesterday she was very noncholant and made me feel as though I was taking up her time. This was my first visit after finding out I was pregnant and Dr Van Tuyle lacked the compasion and bedside mannor that I have been accustomed to. I would not recommend this doctor because she was very Rough. Her nurse was ok maybe too friendly not knowing me and telling me other patient scenarios. The wait time was typical for a OBGYN time so that didn't really bother me. I have changed my follow up appointment to see a different physician in this group at a different setting just to make sure Dr Van Tuyle does not deliver me.

I have been seeing Dr. Van Tuyle for awhile now, but have decided to find a better doctor. She is horribly rude, and has the "I'm better than you" attitude. She ignores me and brushes me off when I try to discuss my concerns and problems with her. For months I kept telling her I was in a lot of pain and thought I had a really bad UTI-she kept refusing to check my urine for infection. She also made me feel as if I wasn't in pain and I was exaggerating. Turns out I have multiple kidney stones. I would not recommend her to anyone, as she is rude and uncaring. I also would not recommend anyone to even go to Virginia Physicians for Women- their office is too big, too many doctors, so they are all rushed, and you have to wait 20 minutes just to see a nurse. Also, Dr. Van Tuyle has made me feel as if her and the nurse were making jokes about me, and I was embarassed, and couldn't understand why a doctor of her profession would do something to make a patient feel that way.

I saw Dr Van Tuyle due to complications I was having 4 weeks after a hysterectomy. I had been running a fever through the weekend and called Monday morning to schedule an appointment. My regular Dr was not available so they gave me an appointment with Dr Van Tuyle. The first thing she said when she came in the room was that my thermometer must be broken because I didn't have a temp there. When I told her I had been taking Advil and Tylenol she said that wouldn't make a difference. She was rude abrupt and did not listen to anything I was trying to tell her. She scheduled an abdominal CT to see if I had an appendicitis, I had informed her if she had looked at my chart I have not had an appendix for 20 years. I left extremely upset and very ill. I went to my General Practitioner a couple days later as I was still sick and when I got there I was still running a temp. I guess her thermometer was broken. He did several lab tests and found the problem. DO NOT see this Doc

I have been going to Dr. Van Tuyle for over 5 years now, and I think she's great. All doctor's places have waits, and while it can be a little prolonged sometimes, remember that VPFW also serves pregnant women who can suddenly go into labor! She can be a little brisk, but she always answers any and all questions, and helped me find a birth control that works best for me via trial and error. It's a busy practice, but I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I was happy that this Dr was able to get me in last minute, however, I was in the first waiting room for 15 minutes. The nurse then came out looked at me and motioned for me to follow her, did not even talk to me until we got in to the room. Once in the examining room she told to undress and wait for the Dr. Van Tuyle to come in, 20 minutes later under a thin paper sheet and in a cold room I sat. I was just about ready to dress and walk out when she came in. I thought they forgot about me. Once she came in, I told her how I was very depressed during my period and went into a little detail about my past. I am 100% certain I have a severe form of PMDD however she did not ask any questions about suicidal thoughts,etc.. I tried to tell her but she was more concentrated on my weight issues I had as a teenager, almost 15 years ago. She then mentioned a few different birth controls I could try and then asked me which one I wanted to use. I was absolutely astounded as she is the… doctor, not me. I did not know what I was choosing. She quickly ran through a memorized spiel of the cycle that I can expect but gave me no side effects or any dx as to why she wanted to switch me to this. She then told me I could change and she left the room. I changed and the RN came back in. I was a little shocked because I expected to talk to the DR some more. I then took the two free samples she gave me as well as the prescription she wrote. I got home and the prescription she gave me and the samples she gave me is NOT what she told me she was going to put me on. I'm sure she has been a great Doctor to many, but she has left a very bad impression with me. At this point I don't think I'm going to use the prescription. In fact I will most likely end up going to another doctor for a second opinion.
