Dr. Jesus Eric Pina-Garza, MD

Not sure how my review from a year or two ago disappeared? Took my son here because his PCP suggested this doctor. After explaining the 3-4 times a week of headaches our son gets on the top of his head, the doctor sent us off with a script. Not what we wanted; we were looking for answers, but we tried it out for a month or two anyway. Nothing. Headaches still there. I called back in to state that these pills were not helping at all. The nurse had me hold (to talk to the doctor, I assume), then returned to say, “You’re not getting any other scripts!” I was taken aback stating that we are looking for “causation” as we stated in the first visit, we need to know the cause! We did not need to have someone just GUESS why they were occurring! Would have loved some type of brain scan (PET, MRI, or CT) ordered to find out why an 11-12 year old would be having headaches for over a year 3-4 times a week, (that he tells us). I am sure, because my husband is with the FBI, that perhaps there are… those out these with addiction issues trying to get scripts maybe, but the LAST thing we wanted was someone throwing a script at the problem. How about, find out what is going on? We were offended, dis-heartened and we hope that this doctor and his nurse have learned from this experience. Checking the notes from the first visit, (if they were good notes) when we called back, would have told you, “these parents are looking for causation!” I do not expect to see this review disappear again! I have documentation of everything above and would tell any mom looking for help and answers to go with a Vanderbilt Pediatric Neurologist, in fact, Dr. Anderson in Cool Springs is VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, if you want answers. If you want pills thrown at a problem and still not know the cause, Pina-Garza is your man. We will never forget about being treated this way and will continue to share our story everywhere with everyone for all the years we have breath. Even after telling office manager the entire story, no apology.

Dr. Pena-Garza is always very friendly and knowledgeable, my daughter loves to go visit and the wait times are never bad. We thoroughly enjoy everyone in the office. They are all very polite and understanding!

I personally came to see Dr. Pina-Garza for OCD and anxiety. Anyone that has these symptoms can understand how difficult it is to open up about these issues. Dr. Pina listened to all of my concerns and never once made me feel like there was something “wrong” with me (which is how I had always felt before). I struggled with feeling like my life would ever be “enjoyable”. I’m so thankful for Dr. Pina. I’m overwhelmingly pleased with the care that I have received from him over the past year - I can honestly say that he has changed my life. He is an extremely confident Physician which is reassuring. I would highly recommend this Physician to any pediatric patients that are experiencing Neurological issues.

Dr. Pina-Garza treated my son at Vanderbilt 20 years ago and again 11years ago. Absolutely do not reccomend and very disappointed that he is again at work in Nashville.

My experience wit Dr Pina -Garza was the worst medical experience I have ever had. He ordered unnecessary tests out of network, wanted my daughter to do an exam where she would be hospitalized, never gave her an actual exam(for coordination which she is given any time she visits a neurologist or pediatrician) and suggested prescribing ADHD medication without a diagnosis. She has a great doctor now, but I would not suggest visiting Pina-Garza unless you want your child over medicated and to pay thousands in uneccassary exams.

Taking my daughter to a neurologist was intimidating but Dr. Pina-Garza is extraordinary! He very quickly determined my girl has anxiety. His interactions with her were amazing. At first, I thought my daughter might not understand his accent but she understood every word. I credit his manner, eye contact and knowledge of kiddos. She is doing very well and it is attributable to the excellent care of Dr.. Pina-Garza as well as the nurses and staff. This is the most child-centric practice I have ever seen.

My daughter saw Dr. Pina-Garza for her migraine headaches. Before we saw Dr. Pina-Garza, my daughter's pcp referred her to him. My Husband had also talked to a couple of other doctors in Nashville who told him that Pina-Garza was the Neurologist to see. We did our homework and were very happy that we were able to see the right doctor for our daughter.

Excellent physician with excellent courteous bedside manner! Perfect for child and parent. Practice Manager is extremely helpful and courteous and staff were very welcoming. Cozy/Clean, kid-friendly office.

My 2 year old was diagnosed by 2 psychiatrist with developmetal delay then her pediatritian wanted to confirm the diagnosed with a neurologist and we were referred to dr piña-garza . First the appointment was at 3:00 we had to wait for 45 minutes to see the doctor , once the doctor came in the room we explained what was going on with our daughter and our concerns he wasn't paying attention to anything and in less than 15 minutes he diagnosed our daughter with OCD and sent me home with meds for depression for my 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER !!!! I was told by the staff when they called to schedule the appointment that my daughter needed to get an MRI but that never happened im extremely disappointed with the diagnose now we are looking for another pediatric neurologist to get a second opinion because giving my daughter a diagnose like that and send her home with meds for depression is completely absurd !!!!!
