I was directed to Dr. Hoffman because Dr. Jensen is no longer taking patients. Dr. Jensen came very highly recommended, but I was "given" Dr. Hoffman. She is a DO, which I felt was a good fit for me. I needed more than just a Doctor prescribing RX and reading the results on my lab work. Both services are available online now without having to drive to a Doctors office. Blood work was done last week and I had an appointment on Tuesday to go over the results. I had already printed and compared my blood work with my past 4 tests (done on a quarterly basis because of CHF and all the RXs that I take, and the only change was my Cholesterol and A1-C went down. Everything else was well within limits listed on the lab work. I arrived at 10:25 am for a 10:30 am appointment, but had to wait 15-20 minutes, although there were no cars in the parking lot, no patients sitting in the waiting room, no one entering the office or leaving the office and Dr Hoffman sitting in the office area staring at… her Laptop. My 4th visit and she still didn't even know who I was. When I was brought into an exam room, it was clear that all the other exam rooms were empty because the doors were all open, but the nurse acted like they were so busy and was in such a rush. After my BP was taken, 118/70, I was told that the Doctor will be in shortly, but it could be a little wait. “Would you be more comfortable waiting in the waiting room’? I asked how long it would be and she said, “the Doctor will be in as soon as possible”. That answer was not what I thought I should hear after ½ hour of waiting laready. Another 15-20 minutes waiting; it was now more than 30 minutes since I sat down so I walked out of the room to find someone. Not one person was in any of the exam rooms, or walking the corridor, so I walked to the front desk where Dr. Hoffman was still sitting, staring at her Laptop. I asked her if she knew who I was and that I had a 10:30 am appointment and was waiting ½ hour already. She said yes. A one word answer and she looked down at her Laptop. After a long pause, she said, “I'll be with you in a minute. Please go back to the exam room”. That is when I walked out and got in my car. This was also no different from the way she handled my first 3 appointments and I decided to find another Doctor. After 3 appointments with Dr. Hoffman, DO, she had yet to make any dietary or lifestyle recommendations to help me with my COPD or CHF which I see a Cardiologist for. She actually rewrote my Cardiologists RX because she said the dosage was too strong. My Cardiologist didn't appreciate that and told me that he would speak to her about it. No phone call to apologize or somehow explain the extenuating circumstances. Instead, she spent her time writing a "DISCHARGE LETTER" to me advising that she was no longer my Doctor. There are far more competent Doctors around and I recommend that you find one.
