Dr. Joan Appleyard

I saw Dr. Appleyard 15 years ago and ended up firing her. At my 2nd visit, I lamented that my feet hurt to walk and that I had to get rid of a third of my shoe collection because my feet had stayed swollen from my arthritis and I couldn't wear them anymore. I sent her a handicapped parking permit application and she was very reluctant to complete this form for me.

Referred to Dr. Appleyard by primary care physician. Very likeable person. Good verbal interview. Thorough exam. Informative session. Problem: Went to her due to chronic pain in total body. CBC X3. Kept each appointment as instructed. All dx x-rays done. 6 weeks later, still no diagnosis. No Rx for pain. No contact from office. No nothing. Called office to check on test results and told "already sent to you". Few days later received card saying "follow up with primary care". Good doctor? Hard to tell when employees not doing their job well. Bad experience!!!!

When I first saw this doctor she was very courteous and had good manners. She listened to me. She went every step of the way to get to the bottom of what was going on with me. Then she was able to give me a diagnosis. Though one time I started crying in the room while talking to her and that is when she got very rude and told me to get out and go. Well I still kept seeing this dr. basically because she is a very good dr. and my other dr. didn't want me to switch drs. Wait time is usually about minutes but then when they put you in the room sometimes the wait can be up to another 30 to 45 minutes. That happened once to me. I had to wait about 45 minutes before the dr. came into the room.

Both my mother and I see Dr. Appleyard. My mother gets the painful cortisone shots and Dr. Appleyard numbs the area prior to giving the injection, evidently something other doctors fail to do, as a friend who gets the same shots with another doctor announced. She is soft-spoken, putting you at ease, and she takes the time to explain the treatment she is administering.

I am so happy I found Dr. Appleyard. I went to several Rheumatologist in Houston after developing Rheumatoid Arthritis. Dr. Appleyard has a caring disposition & is an excellent physician.

Fantastic doctor, good bedside manners andvery pleased with her. I will definitelyrefer everyone I know to see if they need to. Loved her office staff and the friendly faces.I felt special in her clinicand was treated like a person and not a number.

She is one of the best doctors I have ever seen. She takes her time and takesgood care of me. Always responsive every time I call or ask questions. She also has a pleasant office staff and it unlike any other doctor's office I am a real person and not just a patient.I reccomend her to everyone I know.

I have always had to wait over an hour at any doctors visit. Getting in to see her within 30 mins is a blessing in my books.
