Dr. Joan Marie Bathon, MD

Dr. Bathon has been my doctor for several years. She is the consummate professional: involved in current research in rheumatology, adjusts medical care to individual patient's needs and is aware and compassionate on a personal level. She is a credit to her profession and a blessing to me. Jeanne B.

She does not listen . My family has been using this hospital since the 1940s. She is not up to the high standards that this hospital is known for. Very poor follow up. In fact no follow up to date.. Missed a frozen shoulder that every other doctor spotted on exam. Did not test for strength on exam. Very disinterested.

I was fortunate to be under Dr. Bathon's care for 7 years during her tenure at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. I had difficult and multiple symptoms that had been misdiagnosed by rheumatologists and orthopedists. I was able to schedule a prompt appointment. I knew immediately that I was in good hands. Dr. Bathon listened, gently and expertly examined my joints, requested appropriate lab work and accurately diagnosed my health issues. My treatment options were clearly explained and deliberated with me. My questions and concerns were thoughtfully and completely addressed. I was referred to other equally well-qualified physicians for ancillary problems. When I required injections in my joints, Dr. Bathon always knew exactly where to insert the needle. This is really important in reducing pain from the injection and speeding relief of joint pain. Without exception, I was treated always with respect and kindness and valued as a patient. The staff is well trained, efficient,… courteous and responsive. It is well worth a short wait for such a high level of care. In fact, I traveled four hours round trip for each appointment because of my high regard for Dr. Bathon. It was well worth the drive. Dr. Bathon is now practicing in New York City. NYC is fortunate!

Dr. Bathon seldom reviews previous clinic notes, relying on current visit for assesment. In over 15 years have never received follow up on test results. Time between appointments is ridiculous, 4-6 months, (due to patient load)?
