Dr. Joan Facher, MD

Dr. Joan Facher is the most effective Psychiatrist I have ever seen. She was my first Psychiatrist. I have seen many ineffective Psychiatrists the past nearly two decades, and Dr. Facher is the only one who does Talk Therapy.

I have been in various forms of psychiatric treatment since adolescence, and have seen numerous providers for issues ranging from eating disorder to depression and anxiety. I have been lucky to have had excellent treatment from many of them. But by far the best treatment I have received has been from Dr. Facher. She has always listened closely to my accounts of the issues I face, and helps me to feel that I am working with her to figure out together what would be the best paths for me to take. She is laudably cautious with medications: realizing I was sensitive to medication changes, she has always made modifications slowly, and checked up with me on a three-weekly basis to make sure that everything is ok. I have some physical conditions ongoing, and she has been instrumental in helping me find equally excellent specialist care to address them. A thorough, compassionate, witty and wonderful provider, and the best I have ever seen.
