Dr. Joan Frances Puglia, MD

Dr. Puglia did not greet us when she entered the exam room. She stated in a nasty tone, "You were supposed to see the neuropsychologist before coming back to see me." Since my mother is a dementia patient, she lost track of this detail. Then, upon my sister or myself asking any questions of the doctor, she responded in a very SNOTTY tone. I asked if the next doctor that we would see will have access to the MRI that Puglia had just shown us. She said, "I just showed you the MRI!" Well, that was not what I was asking. I then replied, "We are just lay people. We do not have our PhDs in neurology. This Is all new for us and that is why I am asking." We will not be scheduling our follow-up appointment with this woman who lacks empathy, respect and even basic MANNERS. I reported her to the Board at UMASS.

I have seldom been treated so rudely and made to feel like nothing, let alone by a health care professional who has supposedly in practice for over 30 years. Please think about the way you treat people, it's really disgusting.

Dr. Puglia, is a great neurologist, I'd recommend her to anyone. She is kind, courteous and tells you the truth. I can't ask for more. She's the best.

worst bedside manner I have ever experienced!!!

Best new doctor I have been to in a long time. Bedside manor was fantastic. She took her time with me, and was extremely thorough not to mention very knowledgable. Would highly recommend!

She walked into the examining room, did not introduce herself, did not say hello, did not shake my hand, just looked at the stack of X-rays, etc. I brought in (this visit was for a second opinion), and rolled her eyes. I almost walked out of the office at this point, but I restrained myself.I was experiencing numerous arthritic, neurological, and cardiac symptoms. I asked her about Lyme Disease. She replied, "I am not a Lyme Disease specialist."A neurologist in CT had BETTER be a Lyme Disease specialist, as well as an MS specialist, ALS specialist, Guillan-Barre specialist; otherwise how can you possibly make an accurate diagnosis?????Fast forward a few months, I was finally diagnosed by another doc with chronic multi-system disseminated Lyme Disease. After 2 years of aggressive treatment I am finally on the road to recovery.DO NOT see this doc if there is any possibility you might have Lyme Disease.

Dr Puglia speaks right to you at your level of understanding. I'm a college grad with a background in science. She understands your state of mind as she explains the details to you. Her diagnosis was exact although my problem was very rare. My sister is a nuerologic nurse and sung her praises.
