Dr. Joanna Laurie Vanvleet, DO

Extremely lack of patient care. Doesn't listen, Doesn't fill medication on time, bad bedside manners. Left me in despair and said well I will see you in six months while I'm in a desperate state. Doesn't fill my meds on a timely manner so I constantly go through serious brain electrical zaps, vomits, belly cramps, despair...literally fighting desperately trying to stay alive and positive. The office staff appears lethargic and won't speak up so I can hear what they're saying. Complete lack of patient care...very substandard. I have excellent insurance and pay my co-pays at each visit yet I get treated badly. She is not fit to work with patient with mental health and I sometimes wonder if she remembers anything I tell her I'm struggling with. There are so much more which I will be writing and forwarded to the appropriate channels.

I have not seen Dr Vanvleet or Dr Yergen or anyone in this practice in Port St Lucie- Dr Vanvleet’s ratings aren’t great- but I left a message on their answering machine- there is no human to accept a call? The message states that they would call you back within 5 business days. I just got a call from their admin- 3 weeks later! And then she says they get so many calls it would be impossible// she mentioned hundreds.. how about getting more resources? I recommended they should change their message and she was just rude and just tried to talk over me and did not care that I would write a negative review about her inappropriate behavior—- And she offered an NP!! Waaaa? I requested Dr Yergen, who has top reviews, but she is not taking new patients- even though it says she was. They do not accept extensive insurance plans. I have a well-known health insurance plan, and it isn’t accepted at their offices anyway- but - boy, what a witch that admin is - the unprofessional attitude of… her when I commented on the length of time it took her to get back to me was very unprofessional and defensive. Is this how mental health Drs want their business to be presented to a potential patient suffering from anxiety disorders, or bipolar or even Suicidal??

Never had a problem with her, she knows her stuff.

This doctor is more afraid of losing her license than caring for people. She honestly doesn't listen to the patient or try to adjust any medicine because she cares more about herself.

Very attentive and listens - Very pleased. I drive little less than 2 hours each way to see her after I relocated, I am very pleased with her and look forward to follow ups with her.

I had to rate this physician with 1 star in every category in order to be able to complete the comments section. I attempted to make an appointment. Although, she IS accepting new patients, she TURNED ME DOWN due to the fact that I'm on psychiatric disability. I explained to the woman in her office that I've been stable for several years to no avail. After much thought, my husband and I can only make one of two conclusions: 1) Her office is located in the ritzy part of town. She had my address and could readily see that I live in a middle-class part of town. 2) She only wants to treat patients who have minor psychiatric conditions to make it easy on herself.

I've been a patient for about a year, and can't say enough good things about this fine lady. She spends the time necessary to get to know about you and your history. First visit for "med-management" was about an hour. My past experience had different docs prescribing me meds after a 15 minute period. The follow up visits last between an average of 15 to 20 minutes, but never appear to have an absolute time limit. Also other healthy lifestyle changes are discussed, not just medication. She is personable, keeps appointment times (a big plus in my book), and I always leave feeling like I spent time with a friend, not just a doctor. I choose to drive over 1.5 hours each way from where I live because the care I receive is that good. Absolutely the best care I've ever received!
