Joel Guiterman shut down his practice without explanation,giving his patients less than two weeks notice. Totally irresponsible.

He used to be a wonderful, knowledgeable and caring doctor. Almost overnight he changed. Rude, kept disappearing during appointments. I followed him for awhile until he was sanctioned by DC medical board for drug abuse. Surprised he is still practicing.

Listens, cares, doesn't rush or make you feel rushed. Trusts that you are intelligent too. Has battle back his own demons and gives him the extra care in helping you battle back yours. I've been a patient for over 10 years, and everyone I've recommended to him have called to say THANK YOU.

Has been my doctor since I moved to DC over 10 years ago (even though out-of-network for my insurance). Has referred me to a variety of good specialists (all in-network -- He is aware of cost constraints) and always follows-up with them. Identified a potentially life-threatening condition, confirmed by a lab test, and in the hospital all in less than three hours (one of his staff took me to GWU ER and had me with surgical team within minutes) complete recovery.

He was a wonderful, caring doctor who changed completely and became short, uncommunicative, and used to disappear into another area of the office during appointments. I understand the presiding agency is attempting to revoke his license because of drug abuse.Shame. He used to be terrific.
