Dr. Joel Rubio

if you are a parent in need of an endocrinologist please go to a pediatric endocrinologist. This doctor has no knowledge treating children.

Very Good Doctor.

Thorough, competent, patient-centered. Makes a point to explain medical issues, and to engage the patient in clinical decision-making. Staff are friendly and caring people. I noticed that the office uses an electronic medical system---modern and also good for the environment (cuts down on paper use). Great artwork on the walls, and extensive selection of patient education materials and magazines in the waiting room.

Dr. Rubio is an excellent physician with a warm bedside manner. His staff is also one of the best I have encountered. They are warm, friendly and seem to know whether I need reassurance or a lighthearted conversation. From check-in to check-out it is like being with family -- people who care. What more can you ask?!?!

I found my visit at Health Partners to be one of the best doctor's visits I had in a long time. Although it is a bit difficult getting my preferred appt time, due to the fact that he is the lone endocrinologist on island, the entire staff was not only professional, but friendly and made me feel comfortable while easing my fears. I am happy to continue my care there.

I could be wrong, but as far as I know Dr. Rubio is the only Endocrinologist on the island of Guam (an island overrun by diabetics). -And he certainly acts like it. He doesn't have to go out of his way to make his patients comfortable or happy because he has no competition. The waiting room is the size of a walk-in closet and the furniture is dirty. There's always a long wait; an hour or so. His own office is a mess with papers all over the place and a computer on the floor. Another strange thing is that all his nurses are extremely overweight and look very unhealthy. He is certainly not friendly and is pompous. He doesn't smile and you get the feeling he thinks all his patients are silly fools. That being said, so far in my experience, he is a competent doctor. Competent doctors on Guam are extremely rare.

Excellent clinician---very thorough and methodical. Took the time to explain laboratory test results and treatment plan, and involved me in decision-making.
