Dr. Stewart received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the United States Naval Academy, and his medical degree at Harvard Medical School. He trained in orthopaedics at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. Dr. Stewart completed a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, Florida. His current practice involves sports injuries, as well as major trauma patients from the ongoing war on terrorism. January 2006, Dr. Stewart joined with Virginia Institute for Sports Medicine, allowing him to use his expertise in the treatment and care of patients in our area. Dr. Stewart was born in Fargo, North Dakota on 10-29-67. He is married to wife, Robin and together they manage to take care of a barn full of horses, in addition to dogs, cats, birds and many other animals in need. After struggling with ankle complications since 1980 and enduring a grueling recovery from a 2024 distraction surgery in Florida, finding Dr. Stewart has been a complete turning point. Dr. Stewart is the full package. He’s professional, kind, knowledgeable, a good listener, and fully explains all the available options. He won’t pressure you to do something you don’t want to do and is willing to explain your condition and all the options available and the pros and cons of each one. He’s performed 3 surgeries on my foot/toe and I have complete confidence in his advice and expertise. When the surgical staff and the practice staff continually compliment the surgeon, you know he’s the one!

Dr Stewart is very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. He really takes the time to have a proper discussion with his patients about their condition. I’ve had several appointments with him.

Doctor Stewart is a wonderful doctor. He performed surgery on my severely broken ankle. He explained the pre surgery plans and post surgery in terms I understood. He is very down to earth and made me comfortable from the moment I met him. His staff is friendly and whenever I called with a concern I was immediately taken care of. I highly recommend Dr. Stewart for orthopedic foot issues. He is absolutely the best.
