misdiagnosed me ... in the 8 minute appointment he said he was 100% confident i didn't have a condition i actually had ... setting back my treatment by six months ... and then weill cornell did not allow me to see the specialist in the department since he was the senior physician ... as a consequence of belated treatment I developed a chronic condition ... took six months before i could finally get diagnosed at mount sinai ... dr. suebgen was the most arrogant and dismissive physician i have dealt with

I definitely trust Dr. Stuebgen’s medical opinion, and recommendations. I respect his knowledge, expertise, and honesty. Throughout the years he did not disappoint. My family goes to him as well. They love him. I don’t know why I took so long to write a review on him.

This doctor was very terrible. I honestly think he might be racist because a lot of his reviews on other forums about him being short, rude, accusing people of being on drugs etc are coming from people of color. In that case this is seeming like less of a coincidence and more like his actual beliefs and treatment of his patients. I had the same exact experience. I, a Black woman, was accused by Dr. Steubgen of simply wanting pills and medication. He cut me off constantly as I was describing my symptoms. He told me that nothing was wrong with me and that I just needed to exercise. I literally left his office in tears. I reported him to the office manager but I doubt anything was actually done. After I went to another (not racist) neurologist to get a second opinion I found out that I've been having hemi-plegic migraines. It's a bit hard to exercise when half of your body isn't functioning properly, Dr. Steubgen.

I am very pleased with Dr. Stuebgen and feel fortunate that I found him. I had a recent problem where I needed meds very badly. The outcome of my illness depended on getting them within 72 hours of onset. I came down with the same illness I had previously, so he knew exactly what meds I needed. I called several of my doctors, some of whom I've known for years. No one helped me, EXCEPT Dr. Stuebgen. Although I had only been his patient for a short time, he called me back very quickly (on a Saturday) and sent a prescription to my pharmacy. He is eminently professional and caring, with tremendous knowledge and expertise. He has a lovely personality, a winning smile and tremendous energy. He was backlogged the day of my follow up visit, but still took his time with me. I am very grateful that doctors like Dr. Stuebgen still practice in big cities where most doctors couldn't care less about their patients on off hours. Dr. Stuebgen in many ways is like the doctors from years ago… who could be counted on when really needed.

After a fall resulting in a head injury, I was referred to Dr. Stuebgen by my primary care physician. My overall experience with Dr. Stuebgen and his office was excellent and I was particularly impressed with his approach, questions and evaluation process. His diagnosis process was incredibly patient and thorough and I left his office with confidence in his analysis and a better understanding of my situation and path for the future. I have sincere appreciation for his knowledge, skill and professionalism.

I consulted him because I had been having extremely severe, debilitating cervicogenic headaches about once a month and was hoping he could recommend a treatment plan. He told me (quote): "other doctors will tell you you can do nerve blocks, medication, surgery, massage, acupuncture. None of these things will help you." He went on to say that the ONLY option I had was to do physical therapy, which I explained I had tried without getting any result. He implied that the physical therapist had not been aggressive enough and told me that I should expect the process to be painful. He then tossed me a list of approved therapists, with no recommendation as to which one I should see, and no suggestion I should follow-up with him again. I got the impression that my case wasn't important enough to warrant his time; however, I thought "well, he's a doctor, and I'm not" so I picked a physical therapist and began therapy. It was indeed very painful - in fact, I developed an intense, severe… headache during the second session that basically never relented during the course of the treatment. However, since I was told to expect pain, I continued for six sessions during which time I was in nearly constant pain - so severe I could barely work. Even the physical therapist found this disturbing and suggested I get another opinion. I went to another doctor, who administered a nerve block. The result was immediate and has been extremely effective for the past seven months.

The reviews below seem to be from patients who were told something other than what they wanted to hear. Dr. Stuebgen is an incredibly smart, capable, and caring professional whose objective is to give his patients the best care possible. He is very straightforward, which may frustrate certain patients, but I left my visit with 100% confidence in the quality of care. I rarely write reviews, but decided to write this because my experience was so opposite the negative reviews posted on this site.

Although I had to wait almost an hour for my appointment time, it was worth it. Dr. Stuebgen took a great deal of time to assess my condition, ask questions and offer valuable advice. I highly recommend him.

I observed Dr. Stuebgen is very smart, a very good listener, a very good questioner including confirming computerized medical history details, and gives excellent diagnoses including excellent communication of them. I zero of the problems with others' complaints about him or his secretary. I can only guess that those who did perhaps may not get his humor and are simply missing out.

I was referred by a Doctor (not a Neurologist) to call Dr. Stuebgen to make an appointment for my mother-in-law, for what we believed might be first Alzheimers signs. I couldn't get past his secretary who decided "I should call a memory-related problem doctor". When I explained to her that neither she nor I could determine whether it is a memory-related problem unless a Neurologist examines and gives her a full diagnosis, she obnoxiously said "we should email him our information or have the other doctor call". Again, I told her, there is no "other doctor" (only a referral) and an email on our part wouldn't disclose any further information other than what I had just told her, but she wasn't ready to listen. There ended the conversation.
