Dr. John Abel, MD

Doctor Abel is great, I have been seeing him for many years, BUT PLEASE!! Do something with the staff in the front office, those ladies are extremely RUDE and they act like they are doing you a favor. If it wasn't for the patients, those ladies wouldn't have a job there. Please read the comments and do something about your staff, it is insulting, and they speak to patients in a very degrading way. I work in an organization where many people who are patients have the same complain. We are tired of being treated with humiliation. Great doctors but horrible office staff.

I see Dr Able every six months to manage my conditions. He is very knowledgeable and has a great bedside manner.

I have seen Dr. Abel a few times and I am always impressed by him. I know many people who see him, or have seen him, and think he is great. However, dealing with his office staff is simply not worth it at all. There are plenty of other great doctors in the area, many of whom have professional and polite staff, so honestly, there is simply no point in sticking with such an awful practice when other options exist. One example (of MANY): I had a serious health concern several months ago. I attempted to make an appointment to see Dr. Abel, but first I had to go through no less than three staff members on the phone. Each of them were rude, interrupted me multiple times, were very impatient, and questioned me on why I had not been in to see him for a while (which is clearly NONE of their business). It was clear that I had caught them on a bad day, and ultimately they refused to let me make an appointment to see Dr. Abel, saying that he is not accepting patients "back". I never left the… practice, but was for some reason being penalized for not going in often enough. I was already in severe pain from my medical issue, but also got off the phone in tears after dealing with the nastiness of the staff. I wish I could say that this was an isolated incident but I heard similar stories from three other patients, all of whom no longer go to the practice. I never had a good experience with anyone in the office besides Abel himself, and ultimately I decided to find a new internist whose staff treats me like an actual human being, worthy of respect. If you are looking for a new doctor in the area, I suggest you look elsewhere.

I have a long history with an extended list of illnesses. Dr Able has been through it all with me, been at my side, and never gave up when trying to find a mystery diagnosis. I would never even think of getting another doctor. The entire staff is always friendly, courtious, and willing to help in any way possible. I want to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Able for always being there for me. He is so caring and gives his all for me whenever i need him. Thanks for never giving up.

A very kind, gentle physician who really appears to care about the patient & family. Non-cocky. Refers to specialists when needed. Thourough exam & follow-ups.

I was cancelled because while I attended a funeral, I was unable to answer my phone and confirm my appointment. When I called back the next business day, they were unavailable and I got an answering machine.Since I didn't know that I was to confirm and push any option and the prompts don't tell you that, I figured I would show my card when I got there. Well, I didn't confirm so I didn't get to see the dr. Some crap. Yet they left multiple messages. They may have, but I only got one and that wouldn't hold up in a court of law. Plus, my name or voice isn't on my machine, it is a robot. How do they know they were leaving me, the patient, a message? They did, however tell me about my husband's appt. I guess they need to read the HIPAA policies and learn that you can't not disclose any information to anyone other than the patient themselves, parent if minor, legal gaurdian, or POA. They can not tell anyone who was at their office for an appointment or if someone had an appointment… and didn't show up. I certainly will never go back. They need to rethink their policies, get rid of the ones that don't work and implement the ones that should be and are required by law.

This office is the most inconsiderate, non professional staff I have ever encountered. The "caregivers" (never know what titles they have), Certainly not nurses, Whomever they are, they are poorly trained in giving care , injections (scary), finding information on chart, assessing patient needs, etc. ethics are extremely poor. Dr. Abel is a good physician who has fallen to the robotics of "the practice" He used to care about patients....but now just does what the front desk interprets to him. I am saddened to say, this is not the type of care anyone should seek.

The doctor is more concerned about charging double to triple co-pays when deductible isn't met then in getting to the bottom of a problem. He was not thorough in investigating symptoms and totally missed a life-threatening diagnosis. Had to go elsewhere for proper diagnosis and care.
