Dr. John M Baca, DPM

Dr. Baca performed foot surgery on my adult son Mon. Nov. 27. I requested to speak with Dr. Baca after my son's surgery, but 2 hrs. AFTER surgery, I was still waiting for the doctor. Since he did not come speak with me, I requested he give me a call. When he did not call me the next day, I called his office and some time later, he did call me, with nothing but excues as to why he did not speak with me after surgery and why it took him so long to call me. He said he didn't get the message that family wanted to speak with him, which I do not believe, as what doctor doesn't come out after surgery to speak with family? During the phone call he barely let me get in a word, doing nothing but telling me how he conducts his business. I was trying to explain to him that my son had cognitive brain damage and was not capable of comprehending/retaining important information and he proceeded to tell me the only thing wrong with my son was that he was "bipolar", which is totally inacurate and… how he came up with that diagnosis is beyond me. I had never had a doctor speak to me the unprofessional way he did. Also, he did not visit my son, or send a member of his staff, until Fri. Dec. 1. to even physically check on my son, at which time he changedthe surgery dressing for the first time. I was told by the several of the nurses caring for my son and one of the charge nurses that they, and even the hospitalist and infectious disease doctors, were having difficulty making contact with Dr. Baca. My son was discharded from the hospital Mon. Dec. 4. Luckily, my son was able to see his regular podiatrist that afternoon. Previously, I had told Dr. Baca my son would be receiving care from his regular podiatrist upon discharge and gave him her name, thinking it would be simple professional courtesy that he make notes on my son's discharge paperwork of the care he provided to my son and what he thought would be appropriate care in the near future. Dr. Baca's consult special instructions consisted of only this: "Use cam boot all the time. Staples to allograft layer to remain in place". That was it...nothing one word more. That one phone call I had from Dr. Baca was the ONLY contact I had with him, even though my son was under his care for 8 total days. Of the many, many doctors/specialists my son has seen over his lifetime, Dr. Baca is the most arrogant, unprofessional, incompassionate doctor I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I have nothing but praise for the care my son received from the hospitalist, infectious disease doctor, all day and night nurses, the techs and everyone else involved in my son's care. I filed a formal complaint with the hospital patient advocate and am awaiting to hear the findings. My son has been a patient at Medical City Plano at least 20-30 times over the years and this is the very first time I have ever complained about any of his care, much less filed a formal complaint, but this experience with this doctor was just too inexcusable to let go.

Dr Baca is wonderful! I fell off a roof and crushed my heel and ankle, the V.A. Took forever to find me a Dr but I’m very happy it worked out the way it did! Dr Baca performed my surgery and was/ has been there every step of the way. I’ve never had an experience with a dr like this. Highly recommend!!!

Poor patient experience. No ownership by practice for a 45 minute wait and overly expensive visit. I was billed $750 (not adjusted for insurance which was still over $400) for an office visit without any special procedure or treatment. They don’t care about the patient. Go elsewhere.

Dr. John Baca is hands down and amazing Dr.. I'm a 53 year old woman and I broke my second third and fourth metatarsal bones in my foot. Doctor Baca went over my procedure which would require three plates and what to expect with my recovery. I'm happy to say that after 12 weeks I walked out of his office wearing shoes again. His compassion and skills are above and beyond. He truly is one of the best in his field and I feel very fortunate to have found him. I strongly recommend Dr Baca to anyone, especially in more severe cases because he truly has a gift of skill and knowledge. Dr Baca truly loves what he does and it shows in his work and positive attitude. Thank you again Dr Baca for all you do and who you are! You really make a difference in people's quality of life. The staff is very professional and friendly and always eager to help with any needs. My experience was very inspiring and positive in one of the hardest times in my life.

Dr. Baca is was knowledgeable, a good listener and recommended a treatment that actually worked? I can't say enough good things about the care I received from him and his staff.
