Dr. John Bello, MD

Dr. John Bello is too rude and full of ego. Let me explain why. He threatened to dispel the patient just because patient's family asked questions. He REFUSED to explain test results stating "these Pet Scan test numbers are computer generated numbers. We only look at pictures. Those numbers are hard to explain, so we are not going to go there. I am not going to explain those. Are you a Cardiologist yourself? ok, just go see another cardiologist." I do not know what wrong we did to deserve such disrespect. Doctor clearly lost his temper when we asked him why test results show such change in numbers since last time. He could have calmly refused to explain but rather the doctor lost temper and started hurling disrespectful statements meant to demean the patient and his family members. So doctor never explained the test result and was not even prepared to see the patient. In middle of the appointment he left the room several times to look at the results for the first time. The doctor… demeaned the family members for asking him to explain the test results saying "are you a cardiologist?". This meant: do you know more than me, aka: doctor. When we asked questions, doctor said "this is not right and this not ok (implied you cannot ask questions or such questions. btw the question I asked was if doctor could explain what the SSS and TPD values on Pet Scan reveal and why would there be sudden and drastic change in such values in a year span). I am not going to treat this patient now, go see Dr. Jain" (who btw is on unspecified duration of medical leave). My family member immediately begged the doctor to calm down and urged him to really focus on treatment plan for the patient who is in need of care. This is how the doctor usurped his authority and put the family in their place. The doctor got visibly angry and told the pt, "Dr. Jain (another doctor) can treat him, I am not going to treat him now." Reminder Dr. Jain is on medical leave of absence, hence we approached this doctor and we do not know when dr. Jain will be back. So overall a very threatening and scary appointment. I am surprised Doctor can threaten or retaliate this way for just asking what the test result indicate and why there could be sudden change in the result result from test done a year ago. I am truly starting to worry that doctor do not welcome questions or if he truly did not want to interpret the results beyond images? He has violated Pt's Respect for Person and Pt's right to get their questions answered. The doctor has no respect for patient's well-being and do not wish to treat anyone as a human or on a humanity level (maybe it is because I am person of color). It is true I am not a cardiologist but I have every right to ask questions from doctor and say may simply explain or try to point me to right direction if I am not thinking/approaching the test result in right way, but to threaten to dispel patient who is worried for his health and may be in need of care is wrong, unethical, unprofessional, and scary. Doctor became too defensive when someone asked him what the test result numbers indicate and it was not meant to question doctor but simply to learn the test result better. I believe doctor lost temperament when there was no need for such abrupt behavior. He attempted to retaliate against patient for asking question. It was his duty to EXPLAIN to the patient and his family the test results and rather than threatening to dispel the patient at the mercy of other doctor (especially when that other doctor is on medical leave for unspecified duration). I am afraid after writing this review, there's high chances of retaliation from this doctor and/or his team/institute. The doctor seem to carry vengeance for whoever ask any critical question that he is unable to answer or unwilling to answer. I believe I asked a question that any concerned family member would and we did not deserve any threat or disrespect for simply asking questions pertaining to test result

Excellent doctor

He has a great sense of humor, knowledgeable, and i feel at ease with him. And the west islip office runs like a swiss watch! Highly recommend Dr. Bello!

Poor bedside manner, no compassion, scare tactic instead of medical explanation.

Doctor was nasty and literally yelled at me while examining me in hospital. He seemed to want to get a point across, but was definitely going about it the wrong way. Would never use this doctor as my private physician.

Dr John Bello is an excellent Cardiologist. Very thorough and honest. In addition very knowledgeable. I feel in good hands dealing with him.
