Dr. John Richard Betz, MD

I know Dr. Betz through a friend who was his patient. I am a retired nurse practitioner, and I’d occasionally give Dr. Beta a ‘heads up” phone call about the reason for his appointment. Unfortunately, Dr. Betz ignored my messages and the patient’s complaint at his last visit, choosing to take the less time-consuming route of referring him to another specialty for a more minor complaint. This inadequate care allowed my friend’s infection to get out of hand, precipitated an amputation and another more serious infection followed by septic shock from which he died. I cannot recommend Dr. Betz for anything other than routine health maintenance, immunizations, etc. and certainly not for individuals with chronic diagnoses.

An elderly diabetic friend recently died because Dr. Betz did not even look at his leg and foot about six weeks ago when pain in his foot was his chief complaint. The result was amputation of two toes which then became infected, with infection spreading to his blood stream causing sepsis and death about 5-6 weeks later.

He is a great doctor and comes highly recommended.

He actually called me a liar, basically, regarding my health issues. He didn’t want to treat me, so I went to Froedert, where I was treated with respect and diagnosed properly. Beware, he is unprofessional and disrespectful.

Dr. Betz is knowledgeable, professional, thorough, and very well-qualified. I'm a long-time patient (11 years), and highly recommend him.

Not quite certain why this man chose to go into medicine as his profession. Be very careful if you choose to go see him. The coldness, condescension and lack of urgency regarding the dire state of my health I could perhaps let go of, but his written diagnosis in the Clinical Record Summary was unbelievable. He needs to rethink his “shall do no harm” oath. I have now been properly diagnosed and was in urgent need of treatment.

He is so short and not empathetic

Doctor John Betz is professional and efficient. He seems to care about his patients. I would recommend him to friends or family, no complaints. He tells it like it is, if you need to exercise he will tell you to. Also he apologized for being late, which was only 15 minutes-not bad!

A great doctor in a great practice. Dr Betz is able to take time with each patient and answer questions. No assembly line procedures. I'm pleased. I've never had to wait for my scheduled appointment time.

My overall experience has improved greatly over the years at the office of Dr. Betz. The billing is now more accurate, appointments easy to get and keep, and referals have been made to star experts in the fields I've needed help. He's always professional, and spends more time with me to understand my needs and continues to improve services at his office.
