Dr. John Reagan Boyd, MD

Dr. Boyd is a fairly decent doctor however his on call staff was horrible. My husband forgot his prescription at home and called the on call staff dr or nurse whomever was on duty and nobody ever called us back. We called twice. I had to take my husband to the ER to get blood pressure medication when the on call doctor could have just called back. I’m looking for a different doctor for my husband. Poor service. If you looking for a doctors office yet will go all the way for you please run and don’t go there.

My husband has been seeing Dr. Boyd for about 15 years now. He went in about 6 months ago for swelling in his legs, Dr. Boyd told him "he was fat". About a month ago he went back in for a cough that he's had for several months and Dr. Boyd told him he had acid reflux and to take Nexium. Last Thursday my husband went back in for more swelling and Dr. Boyd did another blood test, told him to go to the hospital, and it turns out he has end stage renal failure and will need a kidney transplant, hence the swelling and coughing. We have lab reports from a year ago that showed my husband was already in stage 4 kidney failure, and Dr. Boyd didn't seem too concerned about it, he should have sent him to a kidney specialist asap. Now my husband is going to need dialysis within the next couple of months and ultimately a kidney transplant at the age of 47. If he had actually taken all his lab tests and symptoms seriously then we might not be in the situation that we are right now. He is lazy, and… frankly doesn't seem to give a rip or pay attention to what's going on with his patients. I would strongly suggest against seeing him if you value your life.

Dr Boyd gave me a straight answer about the back problem I came in for. Did a minimum of testing to confirm, based on knowledge gained in the office visit. He also reviewed my meds and took me off one that is known to be dangerous.

The office called and said I need to make an appointment which I did out of thyroid med needed loaners and He refused!!!

Be open honest with your doctor and your doctor will be able to diagnose and treat you or refer you to a specialist who can make an accurate diagjosis.

Dr. Boyd saw myself and my wife last week. He was everything we could have asked for in a primary care Doc. . We went for our annual physical. He took his time, and had a great demeanor. We felt he was willing to go the extra mile to help our health along in the right direction ! Thank-you Dr. Boyd .

I am not surprised by the other reviews. Dr. Boyd and all of his staff are very nice people however Dr. Boyd has a horrible bedside manner. He doesn't feel he needs to explain anything. As long as a person it basically healthy with no real issues I can understand why someone would appreciate his no nonsense approach to things. However if ones health goes to another level he expects his patients to do what they are told no questions asked, literally. Left me cold and extremely upset and did not know where to turn. I will be looking for a new physician.
