Dr. John Robert Caruso, MD

Dr. Caruso operated on the cervical area of my spine. I was not able to use my right hand even to brush my teeth or write. Before going to Dr. Caruso, I saw another neurosurgeon. He did not want to do surgery on me. The surgery allowed me to use my hand again and improved quality of life. I’m grateful that Dr. Caruso listened and cared enough to help me.

Dr. Caruso worked me into his already crowded schedule because I was in unbelievable pain. I cannot say enough about this doctor. I am recovering beautifully and getting back to my normal life. We need more caring and skilled doctors like him.

Outstanding neurosurgeon. Very compassionate and professional. Very detail oriented. Does not sugar coat the diagnosis. He tells it like it is. Highly recommended.

If you are having surgery at Parkway Surgery Center, I would seriously suggest you rethink this facility and ask what their infection rate is. There may or may not be many patients re-entering the hospital after minor surgical operations from this facility.

My husband was under his care from his military back injury and he has seen much progress than his previous doctor.

He is not up to date in his field. Very unhelpful and doesn't listen well. Seems to be in a rush. Waited and hour and half .... rediculous. Spent no more than 5 minutes with me. He said I didn't have any problem and that everything was normal. The excuses he gave me for why I didn't have a problem was at least 8 years old information. Does not stay up to date on conditions. Total waste of time and money. I think if a doc doesn't do their job you should be able to get a refund especially if they are just ignorant about conditions listed on his website ... he knows nothing and has absolutely no emotion towards our condition and what we face daily - battling for our life. Karma will kick him ... just a matter of time. The staff was courteous but that was the only positive but he should not be rated based on courteous staff -not adding bonus point to him.

Best thing I ever did was come to this Doctor. Not only had my so called doctor before Dr.Caruso misdiagnosed my issue but he was about to do a proceedure that would have done more damage than good. I am lucky I got a seond opinion. I would have spent 5 days in the hospital, been in a back brace for 4 weeks, had my spine fused, out of work for 12 weeks and all of that for no reason. Today I had the back spinal surgery in Dr. Carusos own sergical center. Was operated on at 10 AM dont at 11:30 and home with meds by 2PM. Was told to resume my life slowly as I felt able and that I should be back to work in 4 weeks. Already I feel better even with the surgery pain. I would say if you do not have this Doctor take care of you that you are NOT getting the best care available. Thank you Dr. Caruso!!!!!

After 2 years of pain and several visits to John Hopkins, I opted for the surgical recommendation of Dr. Caruso, which was minimally evasive surgery. This was after a Dr. at Hopkins (the head of lumbar surgery) recommended a complete lumbar reconstruction.. Dr. Caruso was diligent and a 45 minute procedure turned into a 3 1/2 surgery. I have been pain free and mobile since awakening from the anesthesia. Before, I was reduced to laying 24/7 on a couch and peeing in a coffee can. Thank you for my life back, Dr. Caruso!!

Was excited about his reviews and scheduled an appointment. It took him forever to see me and I maybe had 5 minutes with him. Not sure I want someone like that speeding through my surgery. Was not impressed, there's better out there!
