Dr. John Waynechung Chen, MD

Never became a patient, as stated in many other reviews, they never answer phone, or return call/email after many, many, messages. My symptoms are getting worse waiting for this rude service. I need to find another referral. Don't waste your time, they will never get back to you..

Dr. Chen listens because he thinks I'm more in tune with what's happening with me than he is just because he has a growing medical history for me, over the years. He is not quick to give me a pill; in fact, rather than a strong medication (other doctor prescribed) he suggested I try magnesium...which has worked beautifully. I have had to wait more than 5-10 minutes only 3 times since 2003! I could write a book, but will stop here.

Well, if his staff would bother to answer the phone or return one of my 15 phone messages, I might be able to make an appointment!! I NEED to see a neurologist ASAP and there is NEVER anyone to answer the telephone!!!! I am having to jump through hoops to get insurance to refer me to another doctor...gee, thanks a lot "DR" Chen!!!...for NOTHING!!!!!

Do not waste your time or money Here!!! This Guy runs a bogus practice and changed the name of the clinic because all the good Neurologists left. Look up Orange County Neurological Medical Group to find the good Neurologists that use to practice here!! Its a shame that this person is allowed to be called a Doctor when he cant even perform tests correctly?? Get a second opinion and you will find this guy is a fake :-((

Incompetent staff, Dr. Chen is only interested in doing unnecessary and repetitive procedures such as EMG . He also dies not treat Medical patients well, we are just lower on the ladder!

I've been a patient of Dr Chen's for several years. I'm not an easy patient, as I have a number of medical issues going on; peripheral neuropathy being the most troublesome. He pays very close attention and always listens to me. It is because of his caring and attentiveness that Dr. Chen literally saved my life. I had new symptoms that were vague at best. But he listened and sent me for testing. Turns out I had a brain aneurysm. Within a short time after receiving the test results, he had called me at home and shortly after that he was making calls on my behalf to a specialist and ultimately helped expedite my case for next day surgery. Dr. Chen is the best doctor I've ever had and I'm very, very grateful for his care.

Felt very rushed & not taken seriously. Some of the staff is kind, but one of the women at the front desk is very sour and makes me not want to even go there. I used to think Dr. Chen had empathy, but on two occasions he has compared me to his son & told me that I need to be more grateful- and not in a polite way. (His son has ONE condition I have. It's cause it's different. It's level of danger is different. His son's operation fixed him. It did not and cannot fix my condition.) Dr. Chen wasn't my dr when I was diagnosed. He has no clue what I went through. I try to politely tell him what happened because he said some things that were flat out wrong about my experience, but you can't do that when the guy literally gives you a sob story with an angry attitude in attempts to make me feel guilty about trying to fix my health problems (tho that's what pays his bills...) and then he stands up to leave while he's still talking so that I can't respond, yet I had more referrals needed,… questions, and I am in pain.. I literally had to be like "WAIT!" as he was still talking/walking out the door. It was pathetic. No I am not someone who takes forever at the office. The meeting lasted no more than 3 minutes. It must be nice to be named "Physician of the Year" (of course by the place he refers patients to..) and to make bank on 3 minute appointments where you make a patient who has enough pain to go through have even more difficulty in his/her life. I'm sure he'd have a field day if a dr. treated him this way when getting his son help. Treat people with the respect they deserve and as a doctor- you need to give them MORE than they deserve. You will see people at their worst who are in pain and thereby aren't the cheeriest of people. It's the nature of the job. That requires you to give people the benefit of the doubt. I did for you & the snotty receptionist, but enough is enough already. Furthermore, friends in my support group with shared conditions have been treated the same way.

Horrible staff... extremely rude and lazy; they act as if they are doing you a favor. If you need a prescription refilled, forget it, unless you have a week to wait. The person who takes the calls (Ruby) acts like she is refilling them herself, instead of the doctor. Dr. Chen is a great doctor, but he needs to get a grip on what's going on in his office. If they have too many phone calls to handle, they need to get some extra help. I'm not really what is going on in this office, but when he was at his other location, he had a great staff; very helpful and always there for their patients. This in my opinion is not the case anymore.

He and his staff were the worst at everything, and if there was a half star rating, I would go that far - went there once, and wouldn't dream of going back - strangest operation I've ever seen. I reported it to my family physician.
