Dr. John F Foley, MD

I ad been to many specialists until i was referred to Dr. Foley by a friend who he help get better. I have severe pain in the upper and lower extremities, headaches and poor blood circulation. Nobody could find out what was wrong until Dr Foley did some tests and found out i have RSD and has treat ed me to keep under control the pain. He is not only the smartest Dr. but his beside manners for a dr. are top notch.

I saw Dr. Foley a few years ago after having acute onset numbness on one side of my body with severe myoclonus. ER visit showed two brain lesions. Dr. Foley was not very helpful. He did finally give me a course of IV steroids, which actually may have saved my life. I moved to California and was almost immediately diagnosed with Hashimoto's encephalopathy. After a surgeon removed my thyroid, that he declared was the most inflamed he'd seen in over 1,000 surgeries, I was cured. It seemed like Dr. Foley didn't believe me and thought I was making things up or having a mental illness. Please believe your patients.

Dr. Foley is the best doctor. He is so knowledgeable about MS. I am always impressed by his dedication to the new advancements and treatments. He is not my first Neurologist, but he will be my last.

Average wait time was one hour 15 minutes. One time I actually waited over 2-1/2 hours and was finally told that Dr. Foley was at the hospital and would not be returning to the office. The next available appointment was in 3 months! I had waited almost 3 months for the "no show" appointment -- not professional at all. Neither Dr. Foley or his staff EVER calls back with test results. The last MRI I had, Dr. Foley never called me with the results even after I called his office over 7 times!! That was it for me -- I never went back. I found a new doctor who takes time, listens to me AND calls back with test results within 2 days of testing.

Dr. Foley is a great neurologist. I have been going to him since 2000 when I was first diagnosed with MS. He listens and we discuss various options. He is "present" and I never feel rushed. So the rating where I have 4 stars relates to Dr. Foley (and not his staff). The sad part is that I seldom see Dr. Foley any more and am relegated down to the PA, who is rude and condescending. Dr. Foley's staff is the worst (except for Beth). They never get the prescriptions right and seldom call you back. I dread dealing w/his staff more than my actual MS exacerbation. Dr. Foley (and Beth) are an A, but the rest of his staff to include his PA are a D-.

I went to my appointment with an open mind to learn about my symptoms. I was told I have M.S. He ruled out nothing else. That doesn't work for me when I am there to be evaluated. Do I or don't I have M.S.? Not, yes you have M.S. and get started on this Med. If this Med. doesn't work, we can switch to something else. Sorry, he doesn't strike me as a professional caring Doctor who cares about my health. More about his pocketbook is how I left feeling about his Diagnosis. Later, I found out he only treats M.S. Nothing else involved with Neurological issues. Explains my diagnosis!

I have been with Dr. Foley for almost 5 years now. From the day I walked into his clinic he has always been a caring, wonderful doctor. I have had issues with his staff but overall it has been little things, that the staff has apologized for. I always wait at least an hour for Dr. Foley, but I understand why. He cares so much for his patients that he spends more time then is allotted for each patient, which puts him behind. I had an appointment today with him today and waited an hour to see him. One of the reasons he was late was because he had spent 40 minutes talking to a patient trying to figure out why they didn't want to be on medicine. He has spent extra time with me before also. He is an amazing doctor, and feel very lucky he is my neurologist.

I have been with Dr. Foley for about 15 years. You never know which Dr. Foley is going to see. The staff is most often unfriendly, and has a difficult time following through with anything. They never call in prescriptions, and never call in orders for MRI. They set up the appointments and then drop the ball. This has happened more often than not for me, so after 15 years, I am finally looking for a new Neurologist office. Hopefully one that actually cares about their patients. It's not like MS is a head cold!

I think it depends on the day. Dr. Folley can be good or terrible. You can't ever get an appointment to see him and his staff never calls you back. At times they are rude and unprofessional. He is knowledgeable but if you go to see him you are more than likely to come out with the diagnosis of m.s. whether you have it or not. He's likely to want to put you on some kind of drug before he has for sure evidence of the m.s. diagnosis and even if you feel unsure of what he's told you, he isn't willing to look at anything else.

Dr. Foley and Sally and the whole starff are the best I have worked with! I have had MS for over twenty years, and Dr. Foley's office is the first to sucessfully treat my MS.
