Dr. John Mark Furry, MD

He was my pain DR for many years (10+). He was always more interested in increasing the dose than he was in finding what was causing the pain, (he & the Pain Center make more money. He has NO empathy, sympathy, or respect for anybody below. him, & all of us common are below him. I tried to get him to get me off narcotics for 5 years. He told me he could but never followed through. It took 2 years to prove to him the pump in my body was leaking Hydromorphone & bupivacain (Na sodium, a soft metal). When he did shut off the pump, all the pain I had stopped, the Hydromorphone was actually causing the pain. However, he did not remove the 16ml of drugs from the pump, and blood & tissue migrated into the pump, broke down the bupivacain and the sodium leaked out. It got in my blood and has collected in my heart & pulmonary system. When I called the pain center and told them of the problem he refused to see me. The sodium got into my brain & caused all kinds of emotional problems, motor skill… problems, and settled in my teeth & inner ear. I've lost two teeth and my balance is messed up. He left the drugs in me intentionally because the Medtronic Rep & myself kept proving him wrong. He suffers from narcissim and if it is not his idea, he rules it out. Therefor, when I asked him to get the drugs out of the turned off pump, nor would he ask Medtronics. It looks like he's ruined my life & cut it short, to make money & prove that he had authority over me. He may be knowledgeable, but he has the personality of Ted Bundy, (another high functioning narcissist. Avoid him.

I was a patient of this "person" for over ten years. He has very, very, very little empathy, sympathy, or respect for people. He has to constantly show his authority to those he considers "below" him. In psychology, they call this condition, "Narcissistic personality disorder". He was always more interested in increasing my dose than what was causing pain. He was giving me 18mg/day of hydromorphone, but the recommended dose was 10mg/day, to double the refills and make more money for himself, the hospital, and the pharmaceutical company that supplies. I think the pharmaceutical company that supplies the drug, also controls the company that makes the pumps. That is why I believe the good Dr, is just a glorified DRUG PUSHER!

Effective, and Professional

Dr. Furry is one of the good guys in the pain management field. Always pleasant, ever cheerful, and optimistic. His, and the clinic's, expectation is patients will follow protocol and be honest and forth write about their pain and pain medication usage. The Pain Clinic at St Mary's Decatur is excellent. Honest, fair, and patient centric.
