Dr. John Joseph Gonzalez Sr, MD

Please never go to this doctor, he screwed my life by giving high dose medicines. He gave me unnecessary steroids. I am still suffering because of this doctor.

I realize that Dr. Gonzalez has retired but I am shocked to see so many negative comments. Dr.Gonzalez was a great dermatologist and my kids and I hate that he has retired. We never saw him as rude. He was very caring to my kid's needs and to the fact that we drove 2 1/2 hours to see him. The office staff was great and helpful. I just wish I could find another dermatologist that I can trust.....someone like Dr. Gonzalez.

Poor. His attitude and demeanor literally violated the spirit of The Hippocratic Oath in that he showed no respect for me or my condition. Further, he prescribed medication which I had been using for over a year as was clearly indicated in my medical history.

I must agree with all the negative comments by the rest. I visited Dr Gonzales after my daughter was referred to him by her primary Doc due to a rash that she had all over her bodyâ?¦BIG MISTAKE I can deal with cut throat straight to the point but this doctor right away started to bad mouth the primary doctor. He said that they shouldnâ??t have given her the meds prescribed & that they didnâ??t know what they were doing & that it SEEMED that my daughter was having an allergic reaction to penicillin and that she also seemed to have MANO to stop all medication that she was currently taking. He sent her for blood work and said that he would call as soon as the results came in this was on a Wednesday. So late Thursday I called and they transferred me to the MA Jessica who told me that they would call me when they came in. I waited all day Friday and finally at about 2pm I decided to call and check on them because my daughter was in bad shapeâ?¦ well they closed at 11. So I had to wait… Saturday & Sunday come Monday I call & they said Jessica MA wasnâ??t there yet I called hrs later she was at lunch I called a few hrs later I was sent to her voice mail. Its now Tuesday I call at 9 am they said she was not there yet if I wanted to leave a message on her voice mail and I did. I later called again sill nothing. Finally my husband called the doctor said that she was allergic to penicillin. I go back to her primary doc I asked for them to fax over the results and had a hard time getting them to do that. When they finally arrived he hadnâ??t even tested for penicillin it was just his opinion. Mean while my daughter is suffering with two ear infections. That doctor SUCKS!

I have been a patient of Dr. Gonzalez's for over 16 yrs. I admit he is direct and to the point, and can, at times, come across as rude. However, he is very competent and knows his specialty. This is the guy that can make an accurate diagnosis when no other Dr. can. If people want their hands held at a Dr's appointment then they need to go elsewhere. I prefer a Dr. to be direct and to the point. If you listen closely to what he's telling you about your diagnoses then most of your questions will be answered. Most people do not pay attention, so when you ask a question that he has already answered, HELLO!!, of course that would irritate him, that means you're not "listening"!! He is a great Dr. He will continue to be the Derm of choice for me and my family.

Please avoid this doctor. My wife had gone into severe depression after giving high dose without diagnosing properly. And medical assistant never returned calls to our voice mails left on her phone even though we said it was an emergency situation and of course they are rude like every one said. Another negative thing about doctor is experimenting with steroids even though we wanted only antibiotics where steroids did not help at all and made her situation even worse. Trust me please read the reviews before you go to this doctor.

I saw Dr. Gonzalez about 10 years ago, when I was a teenager, for my acne problem. I remember having to schedule appointments far in advance. He is not friendly, neither is his staff. I agree that he makes you feel you feel bad. He brought me to tears at every appointment. He'd shine a bright light on my face and say things like "eww... errrr...gross.". He then noticed the scarring on my mom's face and brought up that she must have had acne too (my poor mom!). HOWEVER, HE WAS EFFECTIVE! Every other dermatologist I visited prior to him (about 3 or 4 of them) never offered to put me on Accutane. All conservatively recommended RetinA which never worked for me. Not only did he offer Accutane to me, he gave me office samples throughout the course of my treatment since I didn't have health insurance and he knew I couldn't afford it otherwise. I recommend him as long as you're prepared for him to be rude (I always was after my first appointment). Granted, this was 10 years ago and… his staff may be different now, the other reviews sound alot like what I experienced but left out their results. For me, the results were more important than this chairside manner. All the best!

My experience with this "Dr." Was very similar to the other reviews...Was incredibly rude. When I further questioned him, he said he wasn't going to "cut my son open" to get the answer to my question...now my son was 4 yrs old and became quite terrified at this point. I calmly explained that was not my interest or request, just an answer from a "professional" point of view! I was in shock. ...and check the dates for the reviews, this is years of poor treatment....dont think that is ALL FROM THE SAME PERSON! Moron!

Dr. Gonzalez, is a rude horrible man with no bed side manner. I'm not surprised to see bad reviews for this so called Doctor.My surprise was seeing a couple of good reviews!

Worst doctor I've been to bar none. Dr. Gonzalez has zero bedside manners and will say things with no taste. Patients need to be treated with respect and not be given a condescending attitude. Staff in charge of meds is incompetent as I've literally had to wait 3 days just to get a response by leaving a message on the answering machine.
