Dr. John Thaddeus Gorczyca, MD

ETA: my son had surgery with another ortho on October 12, 2023. It all went very well and he had no problems, his radial nerve was intact. I am so thankful that he finally got treatment that he so well deserved. I am so thankful for Dr. Valente!!! He was on it from the beginning! No messing around! My son was in an accident on 9/22 and was immediately treated in a Syracuse ER where he was put in a cast and told to see a trauma ortho asap. He visited Dr. Gorczyca 3 days later. We waited 2 hours to be told “no more Rx pain meds, take Tylenol and go back to school tomorrow, and by the way the sling they gave you in ER is way too small, bye.” Prior to that, a nurse asked my son if he tried PT. Blows my mind. His bone is in pieces! PT??? Were the records and X-rays even reviewed? My son was clearly in terrible pain and the swelling was severe and worrisome. We went to another surgeon for a second opinion and surgery was scheduled by a professional who took the time to review the ER records… and X-rays. He could be dealing with arterial damage, tendon/ligament issues, nerve issues, the works. School and work are not options. The 2nd surgeon was clearly concerned with care and comfort, and a complete treatment plan. He didn’t rush the appointment at all and went over our options. I can’t recommend Dr. Gorczyca after this experience. This is a very bad fracture, not a sprain. I’m sure he’s an excellent surgeon but perhaps too busy to see new patients. The first picture is my son’s ER X-ray and the second picture is 2 weeks after the accident when his cast was removed for evaluation by his new doctor, who will be performing his surgery this week. I am so disappointed he had to wait so long to get proper evaluation and care for this terrible injury. I do not enjoy writing negative reviews but imagine a loved one with a serious fracture like this. Imagine the tremendous pain and feeling completely hopeless after seeing a trauma ortho surgeon who offers no help. My son said the X-ray reviewed by Dr. Gorczyca looked nothing like his ER X-ray, which leads me to believe he was looking at another patient’s image. The 3rd and 4th pics are 2 weeks post surgery. Had surgery from Dr. Gorczyca last year, and while the surgery went fine, all of the "care" I've received from him in the aftermath has been extremely poor. He didn't recommend I undergo physical therapy despite my complaints about stiffness and pain in the foot, and when I went to see him a year after the surgery because my foot was still stiff and somewhat frequently in pain, his only response was to tell me that I weigh too much, say that there's nothing he could do to ease my pain and discomfort, and then to launch into a tirade about how I'll die early if I don't start to lose weight. Do not recommend.

When I visited Dr. Gorczyca for a shoulder and foot injury, I waited for over an hour. When the doctor entered the room, he lightly touched my foot. I told him my symptoms. He said, "You have a very bad sprain." It turns out I had a broken foot, not a sprain. Then when he examined my shoulder, it was the wrong shoulder, and he never checked for mobility. He did, however, write a mobility percentage in my chart, which ended up being approximately 30%, much lower than the 60% recorded in my chart. He noted several incorrect comments in my chart, including the locations of the injuries and minor details that would have affected my medical insurance claim had they not been corrected by a different doctor. I would not recommend this doctor. I am now seeing someone else in the same office who is much more attentive and thorough.

Busy office, but they try their best with smiles on their faces. My visit was a follow-up from emergency room visit so it took long as cast was removed, x-ray taken, seen by dr then new cast put on; long visit.

Dr. Gorcycka is an excellent surgeon. My daughter was in a horrific car accident. She broke her pelvis, humerus and femur. He had to do another follow up surgery and she is doing great.

Dr. Gorczyca without a doubt has golden hands , after a seriuos accident in 1996 a hand full of doctor opted to amputate , L PELVIS DOWN, Doctor g tackled the job relentlessly , after multiple long surgeries and his determination saved the leg and i have ejoyed a very full life and achieved the American dream of home ownership and 3 wonderful kids ,, i owe him a great thank you that words cant describe.
