Dr. John E Harpring, MD

I have been in severe pain for months. Every other doctor I have seen has told me that my back pain is psychological and that nothing was showing up in the scans. I thought I was crazy until Dr. Harpring diagnosed me with degenerative disc disease and treated it accordingly. Now I am pain free. He was kind, caring, and very laid back. I trusted him and also felt less anxious about my problem. He has fantastic bedside manner, and although he explains things simply, it is obvious that he is very intelligent. I think he explains things simply because he is more concerned about allowing anyone, no matter what their background is in medicine, to have a clear picture of what's going on. Other doctors just show off. It really shows how much he cares.

Dr. Harpring, also, ran an MRI for me after seeing the one previously. Why? Maybe it wasn’t clear, who knows? But he found a crushed disc in my neck after being in pain for a year when other Drs. were sending me for therapy! I told them I was hurting worse, they said it’d take more time. I went to Dr. Harpring & he found the crushed disc! 2019, I had a “bulging disc”. I had no worries as to who I’d select to do my surgery; it’d be Dr. John Harpring. Everything went smooth just as before & I’m pain free in my neck area. Together both times with Dr. Mitchell Campbell, Dr. John Harpring is “my” Neurosurgeon. Thanks to both Drs.

I have known Dr. Harpring as my physician for a number of years now. He has helped on numerous occasions with traumatic back injuries. I have known both this Physician and his staff to be only courteous, helpful and caring. This physicians skills have brought welcomed relief from these injuries. My experiences with Dr. Harpring himself have only been courteous warm and professional. I would HIGHLY recommend this surgeon and his staff not only professionally but personally.

A physician referred us to Dr. John Harpring- who is supposed to be good friend of his... Not sure how the surgeon is because the office staff is probably the RUDEST I have ever spoken to on the phone and should be FIRED. No wonder John has low ratings.

He is the best doctor I have seen. His bed side manor is great. He treats as person and not a number.

He reminded me of a used car salesman. He walked in the room and said your back is really messed up. We need to schedule a fusion operation and we also need a cat scan. I just had a cat scan done 6 weeks before and my MRI 20 days ago. Not once did he explain what levels of my back he was wanting to fuse. maybe I should give him a break, He may have just not have seen what was written down on paper. Maybe he just don't care about people.

My suggestion would be if you want someone who cares about you and your problem would be to keep looking for a doctor. You may or may not get to see this doctor, your scheduling for tests probably will not get done in a timely fashion. I am talking 5-6 weeks. That causes a problem when the doctors will see you in month to go over them. They will not understand you insurance even though you have been there before. If you want someone who listens, cares about your pain and how to relieve it and thinks you are more than a dollar sign, then you better drive right on past this physician.

My Husband and I had an appointment with dr harpring in Louisville. Waiting time was over an hour and we never actually got to meet the doctor. Instead someone who works with him saw us, gave my husband instructions about physical therapy etc and then said to reschedule an follow up appointment with the doctor. The doctor that we've never met. The check out was just as painful as the check in and waiting period was. This office and staff needs to get their act together! I would never recommend Dr harpring, based on how this office is run, and based on the fact that he doesn't take care of his patients who are scheduled to see him.

I waited two weeks before I could get my test scheduled. Called twice. Schedule deptwould not return my calls. Finally office connected me with them. Test is scheduled for thirty four days after office visit. Schedule department acts as if your bothering them. -Write about what you like or dislike about your physician-Write about whether you would recommend-Write as if you are talking to a peer who is asking your opinion
