Dr. John L Hart, DO

Went to Dr. HART for pain management. I was started on suboxone. Had questions throughout about dosing. He is only in the office mon. Through Wed so if you are having problems except for those days you are out of luck as what to do. Office is understaffed. Usually have to leave a message. No one else in the area is able to prescribe suboxone. Beware!

I visited Dr. Hart twice. There was much discussed the first time about my back pain. It all started out well but did not end well. He gave me two exercises to perform and I was to return in 6 weeks. He demonstrated the exercises and said goal was to reach 20 repetitions for each. Each time I performed the exercise I could feel an increased discomfort in the target area and at first thought this to be great. However, the following day the pain was much worse requiring me to let it rest for a day or two before I could do it again. But each time I performed the exercise the following day the pain increased even more than the first time. After the fourth time I could barely walk the next day and tasks were dreaded in fear of the pain occurring. I stopped the exercise and returned to Dr. Hart 9 days later. Still in pain that was intense at times, but somewhat better than the first week after I stopped. The second visit was the problem area. He didn't seem to believe me and the… intense pain, but told me it was all my fault as I had not kept my back perfectly straight during the exercise. He related that if I were to do that exercise with the correct back posture I would fix my problem. My issues were a few. The first was that when he instructed me in the exercise he made no mention nor did he caution me that if my back was not perfectly straight I would injure my back further. Second, he had no further solutions other than to do the exercise. No back brace, no PT to help and monitor, no discussion as to how to get back to where I was when first arrived. His words were "I can't fix you." His demeanor was it was his way or the highway. I could do the exercise so I felt the muscles were working, where he said they were not. I don't think anyone reading this will need me to say whether or not I would recommend him. Currently I am looking elsewhere, but in the meantime the pain is frequent, sharp, all in one spot, and anything I do requires me to be extremely careful, slow, and thinking about the best way to do it to avoid the pain.

He knows what he's talking about. He's read your chart but he wants to know in your words - and has a convo about it along the way because HE'S STUDIED why you are there. Refreshing! Super bedside manner and thorough exam. Spends time explaining and going over your diagnosis and his suggested treatment. These types of doctors are few and far between!
