Dr. John Durward Holly IV, MD

I've been Dr. Holly's patient for over 15 years. He keeps up-to-date on latest medical information, is highly skilled, and has an excellent caring and patient manner. He is one of the few physicians I have had who actually LISTENS to his patients, and he is very easy to talk to. Some physicians seem to turn a deaf ear to women and elderly patients. Not Dr. Holly. I never feel he is rushing me, as I do with other doctors, particularly specialists. He is extremely attentive, and I could not ask for a better doctor.

It seems like Dr. John Holly doesn't read his file before or does not keep detailed notes. The startling example came when he asked me why I chose to reach out to a certain expert and I responded it was because of him and that it should be in my notes that I had come for an appointment to him for the referral.

Dr Holly has been my primary care physician for about 8 years. He provides the "old fashioned" style of doctor's care that most of us haven't seen since the 1970's. He's not only excellent in his practice of medicine, but has the rare quality of making the patient comfortable asking questions and giving answers that are thoughtful and understandable.

I have been to this doctor for 2 years. Like several of the comments below, I did not like Dr. Holly's manner when dealing with me upon my first visit. He appeared stiff and it made me reminisce about a great doctor I once had who was 'old school' and well trained but horrible bed side manner. I recently saw him and have noticed he is more personal, more knowledgeable and more thorough in his visits. The first time I had a visit, I could hear the staff speaking about their travel plans as I waited for 50 minutes. During my recent visit, the staff was more expeditious in coming in and out of my room (wait time of 5 mins) and they were professional. I believe this office has made great improvements and hope they continue to do so. Also, I will note that their EMR is very user friendly and I appreciate the ability to continuously have access to my records without directly contacting the office personnel.

Although the administrative details need work (billing issues, sending in refills, etc.), everyone is friendly, and Dr. Holly himself is an excellent physician.

Careless with patient's treatment. Does not know much about medications and does not seem to care to know. Overall, he is one of the worst doctors I have ever seen. I would rather have a cautous doctor than one that is too scared to write scripts or do tests, etc.

Excellent physician. Great staff. Very thorough.
