Dr. John Garrison Hovis, MD

Was a thyroid patient of his for 16 years. I was overmedicated, undermedicated. A lot of up and down in dosing. This affected my functioning. He did not retest labs after a dose change- would schedule labs for 6-12 months after a dose change. When I asked questions, he would give two word answers. Did not inform his patients. He is either arrogant or did not know what he was doing.

My husband and I are both patients of Dr. Hovis. He is always thorough, caring and treats us like people.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! I was told to even get an appointment I needed a referral from a Mercy doctor (did that)....primary doctor sent referral and did feel it was a good idea to get the expertise of this doctor based on the symptoms I was having. Keep in mind this doctors bio on the Mercy site even states "I treat the person, not the test results". What a bunch of complete CRAP!!!! After waiting at least 4 weeks of back and forth phone calls and being told he needed more time to review my blood test results, I was finally told "he wont see you because this is not an endocrine problem". WHAT????? So after being strung along for weeks being assured I would get an appointment, I finally am told (after another phone call made by ME, NOT THEM) that he will NOT even see me based solely on blood work (goes against his whole professional statement)! I am fuming and will now be finding a doctor who truly does care about treating the PERSON not the test… result!!!!
