Behind a soothing, patronizing manner, bored, indifferent almost hostile attitude. Does little more than manage medications based on weak, say-anything diagnoses.

This psychiatrist put my wife on medications that seemed at first to help her PTSD. She then found effective psychotherapy elsewhere, and worked to heal herself with great success -- and decided after two years to taper off her medications. Dr. Howland was neither helpful, sympathetic nor knowledgeable about helping her get off drugs. In fact, he ignored her progress and her desire to get free of drugs, and literally told her she should "make her peace with these medications and stay on them for life." We believe he has violated medical ethics is saying this. And he refused to review the research on helping her get off the addictive drugs he had prescribed, telling her to experiment for herself and find out what works --- no help or guidance at all! She has found another provider who is both knowkledgeable and helpful, and is successfully beginning to taper off these horrible medications. Dr. Howland is not a healer, in our opinion.
