Dr. John Edward Humphrey JR., MD

Dr. Humphrey is the WORST 'psychiatrist' I've ever dealt with. He was ok at first, in total I saw him for around a year. I am 22 years old I am an adult, he would belittle me and change his demeanor around me and assume and treat me as though I was unintelligent. Where as, when I saw him interacting with other patients of more age, he was less condescending. He never listened to my concerns truly, yes, he is the one in charge, however, it is his JOB to provide me with proper well managed mental care. Which he not only failed at medically ( he basically used me as a test dummy for just about any pill you can name ) but the MAIN REASON I WILL NEVER EVER go here or see this disgrace of a psychiatrist is because >>>>> I had an alcohol substance abuse issue which I was managing with the help of outsourced rehab (I no longer drink now) but he tried to give me a pill that would make me sick if I consumed any alcohol, which is one thing...but I am not kidding you he LOOKED ME DEAD IN THE… EYES SQUATTED IN FRONT OF ME AND SAID VERBATIM 'I want you to drink on this pill so you'll feel pain' That is totally out of hand beyond messed up this was 2 years ago and I am still traumatized by it and him Never bring your children here or yourself unless you want to be treated like trash

Excellent staff who genuinely cares about patient.

I read the reviews here and the ones that stand out are his drug prescribing habits. He certainly was happy to prescribe too many drugs for me to take. Yes, he was nice but did he listen?? The drugs caused me to have painful muscle spasms, insomnia, couldn't sit still and loss of interest in life. I became a zombie. It was scarey and every time I told him about what was happening he gave me more drugs. By the way I'm off the drugs and feel wonderful. I was told by 2 other psychiatrists Dr. Humphrey's diagnoses were in fact wrong.

I recommend Dr. Humphrey to anyone looking for a psychiatrist. Dr. Humphrey is a very humble, gentle, kind, and caring man. He genuinely likes people, and it shows. Most importantly he has an intellect above his peers. He ran two hospitals at once and was president of the American Psychiatric Society for this area. He is a wonderful psychopharmacologist. I have a condition that is difficult to diagnose. He diagnosed it three years earlier than the norm for this condition. He, furthermore, observed my comments and behaviors and sent me to another specialist. I was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Most importantly, though, my chronic pain is being treated, and is significantly less. Thanks to Dr. Humphrey the quality of my life is improved and I am more functional. Dr. Humphrey saved my life twice, and helped me manage my pain and become more functional. Dr. Humphrey is the gold standard, and I would not want to be seen by anyone else. He's a great physician.

I was surprised at Dr. Humphrey's use of labels, prescribing habits and wonder if he really heard what I had to say? What about who I am and all the things I've accomplished? I was having trouble sleeping and before long he was prescribing way too many drugs.I decided this route for not for me. My sleeping troubles went away on their own.
