Dr. John Steven Jarstad, MD

After a retinal tear in my left eye in 2018 and then surgery on my macula in that same eye in 2023, I ended up in Dr. John Jarstad's extremely capable hands for cataract surgery in my left eye on 7/21/25. I highly recommend anyone thinking about cataract surgery to schedule with Dr. Jarstad. He's a very softspoken man but his work is nothing short of amazing! The surgery took all of 8 minutes and the next day when the patch was removed from my left eye I could see perfectly! So amazing! Thank you Dr. Jarstad for your kindness. I'll see you when my right eye is ready for cataract surgery!

I’m a dad of 2 kids under the age of 5. I couldn’t read them bed time stories and had tremendous difficulty with everyday activities. Understand he sold Evergreen to his 2 junior partners and accepted a position as head of cataract & LASIK surgery at University of Missouri. Our family all had LASIK with 20/20 or better results. We hope he will return.

My sister had Lasik surgery with Dr Jarstad. Her results were fantastic and she was really near sighted. You might pay slightly more to have him do the surgery but you get what you pay for.

Dr. Jarstad is a highly skilled professional who also possesses good communication skills. It is rare to find a doctor who displays respect, takes time to listen and explain conditions and options to patients (and family members). The staff at the Evergreen Eye Center in Federal Way are very professional and courteous.
