Dr. John Kim Johnson

Dr Johnson diagnosed my mother with hydrocephalus in the 90s but prescribed only antidepressants and pain meds. Her hydrocephalus worsened til she slowly lost the ability to hold her could hold her urine, walk right, stay upright for long, and now she is in a nursing home at the age of 72 unable to walk and with worsening dementia.

Very thankful for this talented, gifted man. Back on Halloween of 2005 he did brain surgery on my 11 year old son to repair a AVM that had ruptured and caused bleeding on the brain which resulted in a blood clot. Thank you God for gifting this man and placing him in our path. My son is now 24 and soon to marry. No complications or side affects from surgery.

I'm very surprised to seen ANY negative comment for Dr. Johnson. The man literally saved my life! I suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident and was given a less than 10% chance of survival My family was told that if I did survive I might never be able to walk or talk or even recognize anyone. Due to his TREMENDOUS skill as a surgeon, I am still here, back working at my old job and when I meet new people they all state that if I didn't tell them about my accident, they would never know. He's truly blessed by God!

I have to say I had been a patient of Shriners mid 80's up till mid 90's. This was the doctor changed my life for the best! I am now 31 years old if it was not for his skilled hands my life could be a lot harder. My spina bifida was case he did the best for my treatment. Today I owe him and Shriners biggest Thanks! For now I have a family of my own that if it was not for him I may not of made it this far in my life from complications.

I AM TOTALLY CONVINCED THAT ONE DOCTOR CAN RUIN THE REPUTATION OF A PRACTICE. I WAS NEVER TREATED SO INHUMANELY AS I WAS IN THE OFFICE OF DR.JOHN K. JOHNSON AT THE SOUTHEASTERN NEUROSURGICAL AND SPINE INSTITUTE IN GREENVILLE,SOUTH CAROLINA. THE OFFICE STAFF WAS VERY INCOMPETENT AND UNPROFESSIONAL WITH ME. AFTER ARRIVING 30 MINUTES EARLY AS REQUESTED ALONG WITH A WRITTEN COPY OF MY LAST MRI REPORT THEY INFORMED ME 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES LATER THAT THE DR. WOULD NOT SEE ME BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE A COPY OF A CD OF MY SCAN WHICH I WAS UNAWARE THAT I COULOD GET A COPY NOR WAS I AWARE THAT THERE WAS ONE. IN WHICH I WILL POINT OUT THAT I HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO RETRIEVE A COPY OF THE CD WITHIN FIVE MINUTES IN WHICH I WILL POINT OUT I HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO DO SO WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR MY PERSONAL APPOINTMENT WHICH WAS SCHEDULED FOR 3PM AN I WILL SAY THAT IT WAS 3:45 WHEN I WAS TOLD THAT HE WOULD NOT SEE ME. THEN I THOUGHT FOR A MOMENT THAT I HAD TO REARRANGE ALL MY CLIENTS WHO HAD… APPOINTMENTS SCHEDULED WITH ME IN MY SALON TO GO TO THIS APPOINTMENT IN WHICH I FELT SURE I WOULD GET THE ANSWERS TO THIS KNOT ON MY BACK AND GET SOME RELIEF OF THE PAIN I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH FOR MONTHS. THE RECEPTIONIST INFORMED ME THAT THE DR.JOHNSON TOLD HER TO TELL ME THAT HE WOUJLD SEE ME AND CHARGE ME $200.00 TO TELL ME THAT HE WILL ONT SEE ME UNTIL HE REVIEWED MY CD. SO I SAID I WOULD PAY THE $200.00 BECAUSE I THOUGHT I AM WORTH IT AND HOW DARE HE THREATEN ME WITH THE DOLLAR AMOUNT. BUT, I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WOULD BE WORTH PAYING IT ALSO TO GET COME SORT OF COMFORT AND HE COULD AT LEAST LISTEN TO MY ISSUES CONCERNING THE KNOT ON MY SPINE. BUT HE REFUSED TO SEE ME AND AT THAT POINT THE RECEPTIONIST TOLD ME HE HAD TO GO SEE A PATIENT AT THE HOSPITAL. IT WAS 4PM. SO, I LEFT AND CAME BACK IN FIVE MINUTES WITH THE CD WHICH WAS TWO MILES AWAY AND I FEEL THAT IF I WAS INFORMED ABOUT THIS CD I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT BUT IT CLEARLY STATED ON THE REPORT THAT I DID BRING WHAT WAS ON THE CD AND IT WAS NOT EVEN IN THE AREA TO THE KNOT, IT WAS TOTALLY IRRELEVANT TO MY REASONING THAT I WAS REFERRED TO THIS PRACTICE. I FEEL AS THOUGHT HE WOULD HAVE HAD TO ORDER A PROPER MRI IN THE AREA THAT I WAS HAVING CONCERN WITH BUT HE WOULD NOT EVEN TAKE IN CONSIDERATION MY CONCERNS OR HOW VALUABLE MY TIME IS ALSO. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM OR THIS PRACTICE TO ANYONE AND BELIEVE ME I AM IN THE BUSINESS OF REFERRALS AND WILL VOICE MY EXPERIENCE WITH EVERY CLIENT I COME IN CONTACT WITH.

As your patient, I wish you had taken a little more time to warn me of all the possible side effects of surgery. I probably would no have chosen surgery. I have suffered depression, which I have never experienced before, difficulty sleeping for days at a time, loss of appetite and now neuropathy in my foot. Never having had surgery before and basically never having been sick in my life left me completely off guard.
